Police have arrested two men in Chachoengsao province for illegally manufacturing firearms and selling them through social media, alongside methamphetamine. The suspects, 25-year-old Nattawut and 30-year-old Chokchai, were apprehended outside a J&T Express parcel shop in Tha Takiap district on 3 September.

The operation, led by the Metropolitan Police Bureau’s investigation and narcotics units, uncovered a cache of firearms and ammunition, including five modified handguns, two shotguns, 50 rounds of ammunition and seven methamphetamine tablets. Officers also seized equipment used to manufacture firearms, such as drills, saws, metal pipes and epoxy glue.

Police investigation revealed that the suspects normally ran a fighting-cock business and had developed an interest in firearms, producing homemade guns for around three to four years. Self-made handguns were reportedly sold for 15,000–20,000 baht per piece, while shotguns were priced between 25,000–40,000 baht. The illegal sales were conducted through closed Facebook groups and the methamphetamine was included as an incentive for buyers.

The arrest followed a police sting operation after local residents reported the suspects’ activities. Officers posed as foreign buyers to lure the suspects into revealing their operation, leading to the successful seizure of firearms and drugs.

Nattawut faces charges including illegal manufacture, modification and sale of firearms, possession of methamphetamine and carrying a firearm in public without a licence. Chokchai is charged with illegal manufacture and possession of modified firearms. Both suspects have been handed over to Tha Takiap Police Station for prosecution.
