September 20, 2025Sep 20 Oklahoma Republican Files Bill to Mandate Every Public University in State Erect a ‘Charlie Kirk Memorial Plaza’ "First off, Senate Bill 1188 would designate Kirk’s birthday, Oct. 14, as “Charlie Kirk Free Speech Day” in Oklahoma, in “remembrance of his courage and faith, to honor his extraordinary contributions to American discourse, faith, and freedom, and to commemorate his ultimate sacrifice for these principles.” A second bill, SB 1187, would require each public university in Oklahoma to designate a “Charlie Kirk Memorial Plaza.” According to The Oklahoman, “the central element of a planned plaza must include a statue of Kirk sitting at a table with an empty seat across from him, or a statue of Kirk and his wife standing and holding their children in their arms.” And finally, Jett’s Senate Concurrent Resolution 13, would require the Oklahoma state legislature to recognize and honor Kirk as “a martyr for truth, faith, and the First Amendment, whose courage in the face of adversity and unwavering devotion to Jesus Christ and the Christian faith has left an indelible mark on the soul of our nation.” https://www.yahoo.com/news/articles/oklahoma-republican-files-bill-mandate-195100869.html That legislator is thinking too small.
