The body of 44-year-old soldier Sergeant Major Nirutti Putchakarn of R.31, Lopburi province, was discovered face down in a village pond on 22 September, in Moo 14, Takro subdistrict, Phai Sali district, Nakhon Sawan province. The victim had visible injuries consistent with blunt force trauma to the head and face, and his body was found near signs of an attempted clean-up of blood. A black Nissan Navara pickup belonging to the deceased was parked approximately 15 metres from the scene.

According to initial reports, the victim returned from military duties to see his wife and had driven to the pond area with his 63-year-old father-in-law on the previous day. Later that evening, the wife collected her father from the location by motorcycle, leaving the soldier alone at the site. Early on 22 September, the wife, preparing to leave for work, could not locate her husband and asked her father to assist, leading to the discovery of the body in the pond.

Authorities from Takro Police Station and Rom Sai Phaisali Rescue Foundation responded to the scene to collect evidence and transport the body to Sawanpracharak Hospital for autopsy. Preliminary observations indicate multiple injuries, including trauma to the arms, forehead, jaw and back of the head. The nearby area contained a pile of ash, possibly used to conceal blood evidence.

The Forensic Science Division of Nakhon Sawan province, together with local police, conducted a detailed investigation at the site to look for clues as to the cause of death. Police have summoned the soldier’s father-in-law and wife for questioning, though no official statements have yet been released to the media.

Investigators continue to examine the vehicle, surrounding area, and potential witnesses to establish the sequence of events leading to the soldier’s death. Authorities aim to conclude the investigation promptly and take appropriate legal action once the responsible parties are identified.
