Trump’s Aim to Take Back Afghan Air Base Doesn’t Make Sense

Featured Replies

Over the weekend, U.S. President Donald Trump escalated a demand that he has made of the Taliban ever since the start of his second term. He warned in a Truth Social post that if the Taliban regime doesn’t return Bagram Airfield—a key U.S. military base during the war in Afghanistan—to the United States, “BAD THINGS ARE GOING TO HAPPEN!”

Everything about Trump’s demand—the timing, the justification, and now the threat—is hard to make sense of.

He gave it away and no he wants it back. Anybody who knows anything about the Afghans and their history, understands how deranged this demand is.

If he's thinking of threatening them with being "bombed back to the stone age" it's a bit late for that........they'd hardly notice the difference.

Certainly wasting alot of Trumps time undo'ing the horrific messes that the senile Biden autopen administration made around the world. From Isreal to Ukraine, to Afghanistan just awful foreign policy decisions made by unkown and un named people.

Biden's gone.

Biden's gone.

Bidens gone.

How about some facts?

The US government has published excerpts from an investigative report into the causes of the hasty withdrawal of its own military from Afghanistan.

The report places primary responsibility for the chaotic withdrawal of US troops from the country in the Hindu Kush on former President Donald Trump, even though the troop withdrawal was completed during the term of his successor, Joe Biden.

The outgoing Trump administration left behind only a date for withdrawal, but "no plan for its execution," according to the twelve-page summary. Furthermore, government agencies necessary for an orderly withdrawal of the US military from Afghanistan were in "poor condition after four years of neglect and, in some cases, deliberate deterioration." The report was compiled by various intelligence agencies under the leadership of the National Security Council.

I don't think the Taliban are going to just give it back.  Of course, he can always invade again, and then there will be 20 more years of US generals controlling those parts of Afghanistan which their troops can site-in down the barrel of a machine gun.  The rest of it will still be controlled by the Taliban.

Afghanistan - The Graveyard Of Empires

Well now, the British tried to tell Afghanistan what to do and came unstuck, twice, in the late 19th century.

The Russians tried to tell Afghanistan what to do and came unstuck in the late 20th Century.

The Americans put together a coalition and tried to tell Afghanistan what to do and came unstuck in the first quarter of the 21st Century.

A keen student of history is our Donnie.

Now he is going to have another go!

Such threats as "bad things are going to happen" leave them unmoved. They have deliberately created a cruel, savage, medieval, theocratic society and don't care.

Are you sure about that?

"If Afghanistan doesn’t give Bagram Airbase back to those that built it, the United States of America, BAD THINGS ARE GOING TO HAPPEN!!!" he wrote on Truth Social.

Bagram Air Base was originally built by the Soviet Union in the 1950s.

What's wrong with this man? First he wants Canada, then Greenland, Panama Canal, and now the old US base in Afghanistan....

Looks like we're dealing with the new Hitler mentality.
