The judge denied her requests in California , why didn't she leave ! She could of left using the CBP app  ,Im sure the ACLU has qualified lawyers that could help her re enter her country of origin. Or perhaps ask her legal team to help .

What ever happen to the rule of law , I know what happen it was never enforced.

She exhausted her appeals.

"Her asylum case was denied in 2012, but she “faithfully reported” to ICE in San Francisco every six months for more  than 13 years".

  • Sad for the old lady, but breaking the law does not become OK just because a few years have passed.    It's actually a good deterrent to let people know that they can run but eventually thei

Wake up trumps very existence is a negative comment.

No one is naive to North America. As you correctly state they were just the first immigrants who came a long long time ago.

You seem to be confusing immigrants with settlers.

A common leftist trope.

Some pretend to confuse immigrants with expats as well.

Most disingenuous.

so if I rob a bank and then live a good life, nice family, volunteer work etc for 30 years and they then find out I robbed the bank, should I not go to jail?

I've been a good citizen, never broke another law or rule.  Is that ok?

That depends.

What race are you? How old are you? What religion are you? What sex are you? What is your sexual orientation? What do you identify as? What is your socio-economic position?

These are all factors that the left consider vitally important when deciding whether you have to follow the rules or not.

This lady ticks enough boxes (race, religion, sex, age) that they deem her above the rules that others are expected to follow. The massive irony is that anyone who disagrees and wants everyone to follow the rules equally will be labelled a racist, a bigot etc.

Should be given a humanitarian visa considering her advance age and years in the States. If Melanie can be given an EB-1 Einstein visa for absolutely zero reason, scarce reason why granny not given a chance to remain.

If she'd left when she was supposed to she wouldn't be so old.

Wouldn't she be the same age now no matter when she left?

Possibly.

She's 73 now.

She has no proper documents to return back to India. She was still a pending asylum case and had to report to the immgration office every 6 months. Ice arrested her during her check-in. She legally worked as a seamstress and pay tax. Asylum applicants are allowed to live and work while her claims still in progress. This is another of ICE overreach and disregard for the law. She was also badly treated at the detention center. Facts matter.

She wasn't that 'kind' of Indian. The US got did a pretty good job of genocide with the original aboriginal American people. No remorse or reparations.

Ah yes.

"Missing" documentation. How convenient for her.

Amazing how she still hasn't sorted that out after 20 years. I guess there was no incentive. Until now.

A 73-year-old grandmother, Harjit Kaur, has been deported to India after living ...ILLEGALLY.....in the United States for over three decades

So she got away with being a filthy panza mojada for 30 decades? Let her rot in jail for the next 3. Her grandchildren can visit her there.

Sure JonnyF. The incentive or rather the disincentives were the extended detention periods, forced to sleep on the floor and denied food and ice for medication, All this while the her case is still in process and she report to the immigration every 6 months, worked and pay her tax. You are overlooking the big elephant in the room in the form of ICE and their arbitary enforcement of their version of deportation.

She had 20 years to get her documents sorted and leave.

She didn't. Now she has to pay the piper.

But you should really refrain from conflating settlers with immigrants.

To be fair substitute Thailand for USA and read it.  Are we judgemental as heck if the Thais deport someone who stayed illegally 30 years or is it "their country".

Sadly, it's IGNORANCE (and hypocrisy) is BLISS, and who won and now holds all rights & laws of the current govt.   Same worldwide.  Norway ... seriously :cheesy:

But thanks for the Yank bash & a chuckle.

IGNORANCE (and hypocrisy) is BLISS with you folks.

On topic as always ... 30+ yrs of wasting tax payers money and tying up the courts comes to an end.   That it took 30+ years should be the issue, and a bit of streamlining the system is needed.

You are absolutely right - IGNORANCE (and hypocrisy) is BLISS........ everything in the good ol' USA is done by the letter of the law for the little guys. Bravo! But it is stupidity on an entirely new level when the totally brainwashed hoi-polloi does not realize that them believing this trope is what is the root cause for the pedos in government using their 'hard earned' coin to run circles around said laws - but that of course goes hand in hand with 'who won and now holds all rights & laws' gets all the spoils.

Doesn't it annoy you just a tiny bit that you are most certainly not one in that elite club with a free for all card?

You'd be amazed what I got away with when I lived there.   Next door neighbor was chief of PoPo, along w/3 relatives PoPo, one chief in another town.   Best friends father was mayor.

District judge drank at the bar I tended ... for free of course.  And district DA, lived about 100 meter up the avenue from me.

My income knocked on the 1% a couple times, more than a few times top 5%.
