Charing Cross Police Station.

A BBC Panorama investigation has exposed a hidden culture of racism, misogyny, and abuse of power within the Metropolitan Police, raising fresh concerns about trust in Britain’s largest police force.

An undercover reporter spent seven months working inside Charing Cross police station, secretly filming officers who openly mocked victims of rape, made racist remarks about immigrants and Muslims, and glorified the use of excessive force. Despite the Met’s claims of reform following the murder of Sarah Everard by a serving officer, the footage suggests such attitudes remain deeply entrenched.

One custody sergeant, Sgt Joe McIlvenny, was caught dismissing a pregnant woman’s allegations of rape and domestic violence, saying, “That’s what she says.” He also made graphic sexual comments to colleagues and was accused of telling an Asian woman in custody she should work in the “massage business.” Another officer, PC Martin Borg, laughed while describing a colleague stamping on a suspect’s leg, while PC Phil Neilson suggested immigrants should be “shot.”

Following the BBC’s allegations, the Met suspended eight officers and one staff member, with two more taken off frontline duties. Commissioner Sir Mark Rowley condemned the behaviour as “disgraceful, totally unacceptable and contrary to the values and standards of the force.”

This is not the first time Charing Cross station has been scrutinized. In 2022, the Independent Office for Police Conduct found evidence of bullying, sexism, and racism in private officer chats. Whistleblowers told Panorama that such views have not disappeared, but rather gone underground.

The revelations intensify calls for deeper cultural reform within the Met, with critics warning that systemic failures endanger public trust and women’s safety.

Key Takeaways

  • BBC undercover footage shows Met Police officers making racist, misogynistic, and violent remarks.

  • Eight officers suspended after Panorama sent allegations to Scotland Yard.

  • Critics say toxic culture persists, despite promises of reform after past scandals.

In English we have sayings like 'Pot calling the kettle black' and 'those who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.'

A super woke corrupt entity full of paedos can't point the finger at anyone!

I say no more!
