Bank account with 30 THB

Featured Replies

I use one of my two bank accounts to receive rent for my house in my home country. Can I leave just 30 THB in the account until October 8th, when I receive my monthly rent, without risking it being closed? Thanks.

It might work in your case until 2 days from now.

But not recommended for a savings account(?).

If there is an annual fee for a card or the like and the funds are insufficient the account will be closed for good.

Bangkok Bank had some hint about minimum balance over time. Otherwise account closed.

Can't remember the details.

The account will be closed if there is no activity for 1 year and the balance is less than 2000 Thai Baht.

I know that banking rules have changed a lot in the last five years, however the last time I had a skinny account on the day my card fee was due[5 years ago], the card just stopped working. I was still able to use all banking services and the account wasn't closed even though it was eventually left dormant for at least a couple of months after the card was cancelled.

Why take the risk? 500

baht should cover it nicely .

I pay the annual fees in November, so I think this will be not a problem.

Yes. That was the bank told me. After waiting 40 minutes on the phone, someone answered me.
