Prosecutors said central witness undermines case against Comey

Federal prosecutors investigating former FBI Director James Comey for allegedly making false statements to Congress determined that a central witness in their probe would prove "problematic" and likely prevent them from establishing their case to a jury, sources familiar with their findings told ABC News.

Daniel Richman -- a law professor who prosecutors allege Comey authorized to leak information to the press -- told investigators that the former FBI director instructed him not to engage with the media on at least two occasions and unequivocally said Comey never authorized him to provide information to a reporter anonymously ahead of the 2016 election, the sources said.

Comey, who was indicted last month on charges of making a false statement and obstruction related to 2020 testimony before the Senate Judiciary Committee, is due to appear in a Virginia courtroom for the first time for his arraignment Wednesday -- but Justice Department officials have privately expressed that the case could quickly unravel under the scrutiny of a federal judge and defense lawyers.

The Comey arraignment on Wednesday was a typical Trumpian clownshow handled by his usual gaggle of Carnival People.

It was clear Trump's lapdog prosecutor had never been in a courtroom to prosecute a case (she's an insurance lawyer). Also, not a single prosecutor in the Eastern District of Virginia was willing to go into court with the buffoon, so DoJ had to summon two junior prosecutors from North Carolina.

Comey's team said they have been given no discovery information, so the presiding judge asked Trump's people about the discovery, to which a junior prosecutor---not Trump's hand picked lackey---responded, "We're just trying to get our hands around the discovery".

It's a two page indictment, where the second page merely reiterates the first page. Not much discovery to be had, much less get one's hands around it.

A Trump show, indeed. "The best people"   LOL!

But wait, there's more!

Trump posted an order on his social media account telling his AG Bondi to prosecute Comey. The Wall Street Journal reported Wednesday that Trump actually intended to send it as a private message to Bondi, but goofed and posted it for all the world to see. Dumb!

Also, the two hacks from North Carolina working with the lapdog Halligan, claimed the case was so complex it would take them a lot of time to fully understand it. This is in stark contrast to how the case developed. Halligan was appointed on a Monday, and indicted Comey by Thursday of the same week. If an investigation by someone who probably hadn't even hung her family photos yet in her office nor found out where the coffee machine is, could get a case together in 3 days, it can hardly be complex.

Comey is accused by the Carnival People of making a false statement before Congress, but nobody in the courtroom on Wednesday had any idea what that supposed false statement was. (Maybe some other Trump lackey is working with AI to fabricate it right now.)

This is attempted weaponization of justice to be sure, but the "gunfighter" is impotent.

Once again, a ridiculous MAGA hoax is going to fail! 🤣

And prosecutors knew it. No wonder they initially did not want to establish their case to a jury.

(From the linked article in your post)

"When prosecutors met with Richman in September, he told them that he never served as an anonymous source for Comey or acted at Comey's direction while he was FBI director, sources familiar with his interview told ABC News. In at least two cases when Richman asked if he should speak with the press, Comey advised him not to do so, sources said."

This news comes on top of McCabe's statement who publicly declared that Comey never authorized him to leak confidential information!  😆

The whole thing is a farce.......the Grand Jury had to be conned to get it this far.

No evidence, a witness that actually clears him.....WT....???

Somewhat related to this is Comey's daughter, who was---until recently---a federal prosecutor..........

She was on the team that successfully prosecuted the pedophile and human trafficker/groomer Ghislaine Maxwell.

She was subsequently fired for no reason, while Trump said in response to a question in the Oval Office that he will look into a pardon for Maxwell..

Tranny?

She's part of Trump's legal team, so I wouldn't be surprised, as he doesn't shy of anything as long as it wears a skirt
