Forxiga 10 mg

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

I have been convinced to add Forxiga to my medicine-intake. However when google this medicin, of course I got overly exited over how well it is doing for different reasons.. In my case I want to go over to it for my Diabetes 2 to better reach my daily goal with my diabetes levels....

I have read that Forxiga affects sugar levels, and also lowers blood pressure. so my thinking is, "how shall I do this start of this new medicin??

a - Shall I keep my Metformin (4 pills a day), reduce it or even stop with it??

b - Same with my blood pressure medicin, shall continue with my Metoprolol plus Amlodipin,

reducde or even stop it completely????

Does anybody know and can advice??

Thank you so much

There are only minor interactions.

So you can take your Metformin as usual.

Also don't stop your blood pressure medicine.

Be advised to check your blood glucose at least twice daily for the first month.

Alternatively think about a different way by GLPT-1, nowadays used often for losing weight.

You're always welcome 🙏

When you say you have "been convinced", do you mean by your doctor? Or is this something you have decided by yourself?

This medicine is often taken in addition to metformin but it is unwise to self prescribe it. Should discuss with doctor familiar with your lab results and overall medical history.

I did ask my doctor (Sumeth) who performed my stentoperation for some 7 years ago, if I could switch to Forxiga because my metformin do not work as good as before. Decent, but not perfekt. So in order to go down in sugar levels I really like to take this one if it is OK for me. The doctor approved immy, but then I was left with my questions above. what to do with Metformin and Metoprolol / Amlodipin??

Do not alter your cardiac meds except as directed by your cardiac doctor.

If you have a home BP machine, can monitor to see if any noticeable change  from  Forxiga.

As mentioned, Froxiga is commonly added to metformin rather than replacing it. But any time antiglycemic meds are increased, the risk of hypoglycemic reaction also increases. If it occurs, dosage adjustments may be needed. You would do well to consult either an internal medicine doctor or an endocrinologist for better monitoring of your diabetes and for precise dosage instructions.
