Old country folk always use the rule of thumb, "let them have a litter, then spay them", their disposition and weight seems to be better after them have a litter.  Motherhood instinct ya know??  You c

  • "A minimum" of ฿14,000 to spay a kitten?  RUN - don't walk away. You need to shop around.  At 6 months you are not in any hurry.  I use two different vets in the Lamphun area and both of them cha

Take it to a shelter that provides the service. Total cost: < THB 2k

We have 8 cats (and 5 dogs) at our place in Rayong, a 40 minute drive from Pattaya. Excellent local vet charges 2500 baht for spaying a cat. The prices you have been quoted seem way over the to me.

As said, that is what one gets quoted in the Pattaya area, found that myself when looking to get a young cat spayed. Mrs searched around on the internet and called about to locate a small clinic out of town offering the price you quoted.

You can save yourself a few bob and do it yourself in the comfort of your own home. YouTube has videos made by budget conscious punters with a steady and and a frugal heart.

I ended up getting 3 cats spayed for 1000 each, plus 500 for FetoCell CVR & Rabisin vaccinations, total 1500 per cat, including 2 days and nights for observation at the clinic, at the Animal Army Foundation Hospital in Na Jomtien. They rely on donations to keep it running. The vets (husband and wife team) are the nicest people you will ever meet, and they really care for animals.

I called them to rescue 5 chihuahua crosses, which had been locked in a tiny apartment with no food or water for a week. The owner had taken off without paying his rent. They were living in their own urine and faeces in an apartment opposite mine and barking non-stop for days. I thought there were only 1 or 2, but it turns out there were 5. They sent an animal ambulance to pick them up. The Animal Army Foundation received a call several days later from someone who wanted his dogs back. He claims he left his girlfriend to look after them. They won't be much good to him now, as they have all been spayed or neutered, as I'm sure he was breeding them. They were covered in ticks and fleas.
