A middle-aged man was killed in a late-night road crash in Pathum Thani when he was struck by multiple vehicles, including a pickup truck whose driver mistook his body for a black rubbish bag. The incident occurred at around 02:45 on 30 October along the frontage road opposite the National Institute for Drug Abuse Treatment in Thanyaburi district. Police and rescue volunteers from the Poh Teck Tung Foundation responded to the scene alongside a hospital medical team.

Officers found an Isuzu D-Max delivery truck, registration from Bangkok, with the victim’s body trapped under its right rear wheel. The deceased was identified as Mr. Sutthisak Khunsombat, aged 45, of 48/354 Moo 1, Khlong Nueng, Khlong Luang district, Pathum Thani. His skull had been severely crushed and he was pronounced dead at the scene. About 20 metres away, officers discovered his damaged Honda Wave 110 motorcycle, registration from Bangkok, with its front light and mirror shattered.

Rescue workers used rescue equipment to lift the pickup and recover the body. Mr. Ekkachai Phaiphanom, 32, the driver of the truck, told police he was transporting vegetables and pork from his company to Prachin Buri province. He said that upon reaching the area, he saw something resembling a black plastic bag lying in the road and could not brake in time before hitting it, only to realise it was a person. Witnesses later confirmed that several vehicles had already struck the victim before the pickup truck arrived.

A 20-year-old eyewitness, Mr. Meena Chatkaek, said he initially noticed an object on the road while riding his motorcycle. After turning back to check, he discovered it was a person and tried to wave down passing vehicles, but several continued to run over the body. The final collision, involving the delivery pickup truck, dragged the victim several metres along the road.

Pol. Sub-Lt. Pornjet Phonmool, investigator at Pratunam Chulalongkorn Police Station, said officers documented the scene and interviewed witnesses and the driver. Authorities will review CCTV footage from nearby cameras to determine the exact cause of the crash. The victim’s body has been sent to Thammasat University Hospital for further examination before being released to relatives for funeral rites.

This is not the first time someone on the road got hit by many cars and trucks before their bodies were pulled off the road. It says alot about drivers in Thailand. They hit something. Surely, it was big enough to jolt the car and driver. But they do not stop to look at it or assess the damage it may. have caused to their vehicle. Or even worse, they know it was a person they hit but they do not stop to check on the person or their car damage caused by the impact. They just keep driving as if nothing happened.
