Police in Chonburi province have launched an investigation after fishermen discovered partial human remains floating near Koh Kham, approximately 2–3 nautical miles off the coast. The discovery was reported around 16:00 on 2 November 2025, prompting an immediate response from local rescue teams. Officers confirmed the remains consisted of the lower half of a human body and was showing significant decomposition.

Rescue personnel from the Sawang Rojanathammasathan Foundation retrieved the remains and handed them over to investigating officers. Initial assessments indicated the body had been in the water for at least a month, given the advanced state of decomposition. The lower torso retained traces of flesh, suggesting prolonged exposure to sea conditions.

Authorities documented the scene, taking photographs and noting the precise location where the remains were found. However, no personal items or identification were recovered, leaving the victim’s identity unknown. Police are coordinating with nearby stations and local administrative offices to cross-check reports of missing persons, including residents and tourists, in the Sattahip and surrounding coastal areas.

Officials noted that the level of decomposition complicates identification efforts and may delay conclusions regarding the cause of death. Investigators are treating the case with caution, as there are currently no signs indicating whether foul play was involved. The remains have been sent to the Institute of Forensic Medicine at the Bangkok Police Hospital for detailed examination and potential DNA analysis.

Police hope the forensic investigation will assist in establishing the victim’s identity and provide crucial evidence on how the person died. Coordination among local and national agencies is ongoing, with authorities awaiting the forensic team’s findings before determining the next steps in the investigation.
