Hanoi and Jakarta Now Linked by Direct Vietnam Airlines Route

Vietnam Airlines has launched a direct flight between Hà Nội and Jakarta, marking its second direct connection to Indonesia this year. This expansion highlights Vietnam Airlines' dedication to strengthening its presence in the Indonesian market. The first flight is set for 22 November 2025.

This new service follows the introduction of the Hồ Chí Minh City-Denpasar route in June. Trần Tuấn Nghĩa, Vietnam Airlines' chief representative in Indonesia, affirmed that daily operations with overnight schedules will provide travellers more flexibility. This aims to benefit both business travellers and tourists by maximising their daylight hours for activities.

The new route enhances Vietnam Airlines' competitiveness in the ASEAN aviation market. Trần Tuấn Nghĩa explained that the carrier is focusing on expanding its reach in Southeast and Northeast Asia, aligning with Vietnam's larger strategic goals. The route is expected to significantly boost passenger traffic between Vietnam and Indonesia.

The initiative was applauded by Vietnamese Ambassador to Indonesia Tạ Văn Thông, who emphasised that improved air connectivity not only strengthens ties but also signifies a milestone in the Vietnam-Indonesia partnership. Both nations, active ASEAN members, see this route as a facilitator of business cooperation and people-to-people exchange.

Going forward, this direct connection is poised to support broader economic and social interactions between the two countries, tapping into Indonesia's vast market potential. As Vietnam Airlines develops its network, similar routes may be seen in the future to further integrate the region.
