Bangkok’s City Council President, Mr Wiput Sriwaurai, alongside members of the Pheu Thai Party, visited the collapsed road in front of Vachira Hospital, Dusit District, on 13 November 2025, highlighting that repair work remains incomplete 51 days after the incident. The delay has disrupted access for patients, students, and local businesses, while causing economic and daily life impacts. Council members urged accountability from contractors and demanded clear timelines for road restoration.

The collapse occurred on 24 September 2025, creating a hole measuring approximately 30 by 30 metres and over 20 metres deep. Contractors responsible were CKST-PL Joint Venture, comprising Ch. Karnchang Public Company Limited and Sino-Thai Engineering and Construction Public Company Limited, who were also involved in the construction of the MRT Purple Line underground tunnel. Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul had previously stated on 2 October that the road would be restored promptly, aiming for completion by 9 October, but work has yet to be finished.

Officials expressed concern over ongoing disruptions, including restricted hospital access, traffic congestion and impacts on local commerce. Mr Wiput stressed that repair delays impose costs not only on contractors but also on residents and called for compensation for public expenses related to demolition support and infrastructure repair. Mr Kritchon Aiyapanya noted that the companies involved should face legal action to ensure public trust and accountability, despite their historical connection to the Prime Minister.

Mr Kritchon and Mr Yanakitt Huangsap highlighted that soil intrusion into the completed tunnel section likely caused the collapse. Authorities have established an investigative committee, but the precise cause remains unclear and under investigation. The officials called for urgent measures to prevent similar incidents in other parts of Bangkok, particularly as multiple MRT tunnel projects are ongoing.

Traffic studies indicate that around 12,000 vehicles use the Samsen Road junction daily, creating severe congestion during peak hours. The prolonged road closure has forced commuters to take alternative routes, increasing travel time and fuel costs, while also affecting public transportation, local markets and surrounding businesses.

Matichon reported that efforts are now focused on completing repairs, finalising investigations and holding the contractors accountable. Council members emphasised the need to restore public confidence in urban infrastructure safety.
