Why does Thailand seem to attract Farang weirdos?

...is it OK for men to go around groping women?

if not, then why is it OK for women/LB's to grope men?

Eric.

Because women can get sex more easily so they can be more picky.

For men, it's more work.

So getting groped out of the blue is a bonus as the guy didnt have to put any work into it.

Yeah..... Nah.

We all end up out here because we don't fit. That's good and bad.

It's initially the women ..

Myself, I was honestly drawn here by the temples years ago. Myanmar and Cambodia c92. Visited every important temple between Pakistan all the way to Bali and West Indonesia and North to Korea. Not just every temple, but every Buddha image (some cool 9th century in Korea, Khmer, Indian temple). I was also hugely drawn to the beautiful beaches, snorkeling and cheap camping.

Expat crowd must be monied and clever enough to stay afloat. Lots of expats on a string especially Pattaya. Just waiting for other shoe to drop

Plenty of cray cray short timers (<10 years, in out) surely

I tend to like the old school eccentrics more than the overly confident new arrivals that often never stick ...or the very annoying part timers.

If you live here year round 👍 ... everyone else is a tourist and will be forever

Don't confuse long stayers with true dedicated expats...the dead enders ❤️

I don't know where I'm going with this.. too much scotch

As for women. I think my interest in ancient temples over a full decade kept me backpacking not in Pattaya is anomalous

I settled into Pattaya a decade later. I never had problems shagging birds until middle age. That was an epic era in my life too just different

It's been ages.

What did you expect on soi buakhao? 🤭

Where I live in Bangkok, very low chance - because most are young around here. The closer you get to asoke, the higher the chance of fruitcake.

What about Soi 4?

Ok, let's have a philosophical conversation.

What is "normal" ? Someone who held a 9 to 5 job their whole life in the same company and wears a blue suit?

I presume most people think they are "normal", so then "fruitcake" represents what? Someone who deviates too much from you?

There are only 2 types of people - decent people and people you need to stay away from because they may cause you problems.

Who cares who is "strange" or "normal"? If you are obsessed with this, maybe there is something wrong with you.

There is no such thing as "fruitcake". It doesn't mean anything.

Weird Al Yankovic might be considered a fruitcake? He's strange. He's also a genius and hilarious.

So if you ran into Weird Al on Soi Bukhao, you would avoid him?

Weird Al is very weird.

I met him on Soi Cowboy last night.

He was from Dundee and works for Aldi.

Why do singlets bother people so much?

It's not Wall Street. You can't expect everyone to walk around in 2000 dollar suits.

And it's bloody hot.

Yeah, the quality of the clothing could be more refined ....but most of those singlets are what are being sold in local shops and they are supporting these small local businesses.

And yet it bothers people so much because what exactly?

And most Thais are not that rich anyway .... so do you really need to be walking around in expensive clothing?

Sorry, am I too deep for you?

Most seem to have something wrong with them, be it a drug addiction, a personality disorder, torrid financial situation or problems with women, most foreigners who visit/live in Thailand seem to be dysfunctional in one way or another.

Again, these have been my experiences. I recently came back from Denmark and it was tremendous, not a single lunatic around at all! Many sane conversations with many sane people, and the women.... drop dead gorgeous, gracious, kind and service minded. Top notch!

Eric.

Oh so you met me then....lol

Definitely less particular about appearance.

On off but wasn't priority. I had Viet and Cambodian gfs in States some of that time. I wasn't full time here until 2001. I'd bank cash and let the job take me out then go travel a year or two then return and get another contract. That fell apart post y2k. Then I kinda moved to Pattaya. Viet gf was heartbroken. She was my age, but what a stunner. Tiny little thing.

Weirdos are everywhere. There are weirdos right here on this forum. I saw a big burly weird guy the other day with a deep voice dressed up like a woman giving me the eye. A lot of farang weirdos start acting weird when they notice me in public like they need some recognition from me a complete stranger, like, they’ll roll down their car window because they want me to see them, gay? Maybe. Pull their car keys out of their pocket and start flipping them like Hey Look At Me I Got A Car!!! And they’ll start talking loudly to whoever they are with soon as they see me, especially the Germans and Russians. On the motorcycle, they get really weird when they see another farang and suddenly start driving worse than the Thais just for the recognition of it. Oh and the grown adolescent types that latch on to their gf and start to feel her out in public whenever they see another farang creepy weirdos everywhere.
