November 19, 2025Nov 19 Previous meeting Myanmar has opened the 60th ASEAN Transport Officials Meeting in Nay Pyi Taw, bringing together senior representatives from across Southeast Asia and key dialogue partners. The three‑day gathering, held in hybrid format from 17 to 19 November, marks a significant moment for regional cooperation in infrastructure and connectivity. Speaking at the launch, Union Minister for Transport and Communications U Mya Tun Oo said Myanmar was honoured to host the event. He thanked ASEAN members and partners for their continued commitment to innovation and capacity building, stressing that sustainable development of the transport sector is vital for the region’s future. The meeting is part of a long‑running series under the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, where officials coordinate policies on aviation, shipping, road and rail networks. It provides a platform to harmonise standards, improve safety, and expand cross‑border links that underpin trade and mobility. Dialogue partners including China, Japan, South Korea and the European Union are also taking part, reflecting the wider strategic interest in Southeast Asia’s transport corridors. For Myanmar, hosting the 60th session is both symbolic and practical. It allows the country to showcase its role within ASEAN despite ongoing political challenges, while also engaging directly with neighbours on shared priorities such as logistics, digitalisation and greener transport. The discussions are expected to feed into broader ASEAN frameworks aimed at building a more integrated and resilient regional economy. By convening officials at this milestone meeting, ASEAN is signalling its determination to strengthen cooperation in a sector that touches every aspect of daily life—from the movement of goods to the mobility of people. The outcome will shape how Southeast Asia connects internally and with the wider world in the years ahead. -2025-11-19 ThaiVisa, c'est aussi en français ThaiVisa, it's also in French
