Hey All,

I have been dumped with the task of a weekend for some of thwe boys from work to Prague. Anyone know off any good nightspots, clubs etc done a little bit of legwork. If anyone has been comments are welcomed or any useful sites? I prefer a house club, however any fun/theme clubs are welcomed since it is a few days on the pish... :o

Thanks All :D

Hey,

I vaguely recall a few cool places. I'll need to look them up in my docs after I get back from work this afternoon/

Cheers Kayo Buddy, that would be appreciated.

Heres a few I am leaning towards for a drunken dance......

Karlovy Lazne

Palac Akropolis

seems to be a few bars worth rolling around in as well!

CC,

Back from a marathon day at work.

Look mate, I've searched all my drives... I fear the write up I had on Prague is lost in the annals with one of my old laptops...

It was a good ten/twelve years ago now, however.

T'was May '95 to be precise.

So here's from Memory.. not a whole lot, sadly!

The wall had come down only a few years before, the Czech republic had only just opened it's borders to the wider world, and I had a mad weekend there with my brother and and some others. We stayed in a very nice old fashioned Art Deco hotel called the Pariz. This was a grand ol' hotel in central Prague. a few minutes walk away was the main square (which I think features for a key scene in one of the Cruise Mission Impossible films)

I think we found everything in the center very walkable.

The river has a ton of stunning bridges and views. Across the river is the old city fortress/cathedral too. Well worth a viewing one day.

Nightclubs etc... I dunno mate. It was long ago, and there weren't that many "official places" yet. It has grown, by all accoutns, tremendously, into a vibrant city with an immense nightlife!

So I really don't think I can help you with that, except to say that on one of our last nights there, thru some locals guys and girls we'd partied with, we ended up at a little place, maybe a ten minute drive out on the outskirts of the city's center (not out of town) that was built on a hillside. In a hillside, to be precise.

When we walked in, there was a life size (human size) replica of a pig, standing on two legs, with red glowing eyes. Being built in the hillside, it was like a massive cave, or long cavern.

The first chamber was a chill out area, with food service, long comfy benches, etc... but wal thru a passage way (tunnel?) and you end up in a not massive cavern where the sh1t hit the fan and you partied like it was 1999. t'was tremendous, and I got jiggy with a gorgeous Czech chick who was at least 20 or so... Remember I was only 15...

Anyway, t'was a long time ago, and I can't find the specifics anymore.. Sorry I can't be of more help.

You WILL have an awesome time there though!

You still make me giggle Kayo mate,

15 eh and sowing your seeds, you are the Fonz! Anyways was a nice story and I hope our weekend ends up as action packed. Maybe we could take a few bricks and stage a bringing down of the wall for kicks! I was told that the old part of town is very beautiful and will be wylin my days away.

Thje club scene has took off and my DJ friend has also pointed me to some more underground places with a fine stash of house and hip hop. Looks like all in all it going to bhe a good one, as long as the boys find a few 20 year old Czexh gals to play with (did you keep her number, lol, ah she wll be old now anyways)!

Thjanks Again Buddy. CC :o

having slept on it... a little... I've remembered....

Not a whole lot, but you'll like this.

How to meet a czech gal.

Go to a sh1tty l'il disco about five minutes walk away from your hotel, up a flight of steps. This disco was up one floor and had plate glass walls so you could look out on the town, though the town couldn't look at you.

Buy a drink.

Go dance.

See a physically disabled guy dancing in an appropriately spastic manner.

See two gals dancing behind the guy, and imitating him.

Think it is not very nice of the gals to do so.

Go and dance with (in front of ) of the guy (ie: making him feel less lonely)

End up with entire club imitating your/his moves, with you and him in the middle.

Song ends, disabled guy leaves happy and content. Bro and I dance on a bit checking out czech chicks.

Have original two gals come up to you afterwards and they offer to buy you and your brother a drink and they feel a bit sheepish.

... censored for nudity.

PS: when are you going?

Next month....one will look more fecked up than anyone I am sure! However thanks for the guidance, but my Wife will cut my tiddler off if I venture to far south if you get my meaning.... it is always nice to look at the menu without buying though! I can vouch that my buddys will be full of enthusiasm for finding friendship!

:o

Budweiser, the proper stuff, yumyum.

Brewed in Brno just outside of Prague. I had a lot of Chec and Slovak female friends before I left London (about 5 years ago). One of my best friends, and housemate, had a young (19) girlfriend from Brno and we were constantly the stopping off point for gangs of young au pairs. They are very nice folk. Enjoy yourself.

I'm jealous of the beer you're gonna drink, much better than anything we can get in Thailand.

Just head for the old town.

Prague has a good night life, it'll find you.

I must say, that tonight I drank Budwiesr - the proper Czech kind - and of the ale variety: a dark Bud. Many of them,

And I can't type now.

I once saw a pink elephant in amsterdam flashing at me through a window. Crazy yet true....

:o Was that back in 98, 99? I lived there then...

Anyway, I had some proper Budweiser last night. A dark variety of it. Very tasty.

Is it no longer brewed in Ceske Budejovice - or Budweiss in German?

I had friends living in Budejovice during the Cold War times. A very nice town (or city) as is the centre of Prague. But the terrible housing estates on the outskirts, Byker times ten!

Been there too, around the same time when Kayo was there :o

Nightlife was great, but everything closed at 11 pm. We asked a taxi driver if he can find us some place for more party and yes, he knew something. Endless drive to the outskirts of Prague. Arrived at a private house, and the driver knocked at the back door. Door opens and we are let into a bar with red plush barstools, red sofas etc...no girls though. Only the bartender, the taxi driver and us. We were hinted that girls are just a phone call away but we were not really up for it and rather interested in his extensive assortment of whiskeys.

Taxi driver starts slamming back Vodka like water. After a while we decide to leave and the landlord wants us to pay for the taxi driver's tab. We argue that we did not order any of his drinks and that we will definatley not pay any of them either. Situation gets a bit hostile, especially as the taxi driver insists on driving us home. It is outskirts of Prague, 3 am in the morning.

We decided to walk home.

Next thing that happens is, one of those orange road-sweeping trucks comes around the corner. We stop that truck and ask the driver if he can drive us home...on the other side of this rather large city. He was a bit reluctant until one of my friends produced a 20 Deutschmark bill. Some parts of Prague were left with dirty roads that night...
