Japan has donated 7 million baht in relief items to Thailand to assist with flood recovery efforts. Japanese Ambassador Otaka Masato handed these items over to Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul at Government House. The gesture reinforces the strong ties between the two countries.

The relief support follows severe flooding in southern Thailand, prompting a quick response from Japan. Alongside the ambassador, the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) head Shunsuke Sakudo and several Thai government officials attended the handover ceremony. The relief package includes essential items like tents, blankets, and water filtration machines.

Prime Minister Anutin expressed appreciation to Japan for its unwavering support and swift assistance. The donation reflects the long-standing friendship between Japan and Thailand, and Anutin assured that the relief items would be promptly distributed to flood victims. He also committed to enhancing disaster management systems to reduce future impact.

Ambassador Otaka reaffirmed Japan's steadfast support for Thailand, emphasising the solidarity between the nations. He hopes the relief items will alleviate the suffering of those affected by the floods. Mutual support during past crises, including natural disasters in both nations, has marked the relationship between the two countries, reported The Nation.

Looking forward, the Thai government is dedicated to improving its disaster response capabilities, with Japan’s continual support seen as a key component. We expect the partnership to remain strong, as both nations have supported each other through previous challenges.

So the Thai Billionaires have donated nothing......?

Japan learned their lesson after giving cash for the tsunami relief back in 2004.  Now it's tents and water filters that were (hopefully) manufactured in Japan so that Japanese businesses also benefited.
