Daikin Industries (Thailand) Limited has temporarily suspended all its employees starting from 8 am on December 6. This decision follows unsuccessful negotiations between the company's management and the labour union regarding bonus payments. As a result, employees will not receive their salaries during this suspension period.

Theft Halts Red Line Train Services in Bangkok

Train services on Bangkok’s Red Line were suspended Friday morning after theft of electricity wires at Rangsit Station disrupted power supply. Sutep Punthupeng, CEO of SRT Electrified Train Co., stated that a short-circuit was detected at 4am. The ground wires at electricity transformers were found to be cut and stolen, impacting operations.

New Social Security Rates Start 2026, Benefit Increase Planned

The Social Security Office (SSO) in Thailand has announced a revision to the ceiling contribution rate for employers and Article 33 insurers beginning next year, with the aim of expanding benefits and strengthening the fund. The SSO, led by secretary-general Kanchana Phoonkaew, will intensify its communication efforts to ensure thorough understanding of this new structure. The cabinet approved the proposal earlier this month, marking the first adjustment in over thirty years amidst rising wages and an ageing population.

A 20-year-old university student was rescued by Bang Phli police after being deceived by a call centre scam. The scammers convinced the student he was involved in money laundering, leading him to transfer funds and isolate himself to stage a fake arrest. This incident was reported on December 3rd after the student's mother filed a missing person complaint.
