A stepmother in Nakhon Phanom has vehemently denied abusing her 12-year-old stepdaughter after the child was discovered naked in a rice field by a cattle herder. The child, reportedly a special needs student, was immediately taken for a medical and psychological examination by social development and human security officials.

 

The case came to light after a Facebook post on December 2, 2028, described the girl being found in a terrified state, alleging repeated abuse by her stepmother. Local authorities, including the district officer of Wang Yang, visited the girl’s home on December 2nd, noting her emotional behavioural condition and reports of frequent physical punishment.

 

The stepmother, identified as Khwan, protested as officials took the child on December 3rd, shouting at officers and refusing to consent. The child’s biological father, contacted via Line, also initially refused for her to be moved. A local uncle confirmed the girl has special needs, sometimes talking to herself or trees and supported her removal for professional care.

 

Naewna reported that villagers reported hearing frequent yelling and abuse but were reluctant to intervene. A teacher from the girl’s school noted having seen bruises on her arms previously. Authorities will continue their investigation following the medical assessment.
