Fighting along the Thai–Cambodian border in Surin province intensified early on 13 December 2025, with Cambodian forces firing BM-21 multiple rocket launchers towards the Ta Kwai Temple area, injuring 11 Thai soldiers. The exchanges began in the early morning and continued across several flashpoints, forcing local leaders and villagers to shelter in bunkers for safety. This marked the fifth consecutive day of clashes along the border.

The latest violence erupted at around 06.10 near Ta Kwai Temple, Hill 350 at Chong Krang, and Ta Muen Thom Temple in Kap Choeng district. Cambodian troops opened fire with artillery, followed at 07.40 by the first salvo of BM-21 rockets, alternating with further artillery strikes. Thai forces returned fire intermittently before fighting resumed along the entire border line.

According to reports from the area, community leaders, village defence volunteers and local residents quickly moved into shelters as the shelling continued. As of the latest updates, there were no confirmed reports of damage to civilian property. The situation remained highly volatile throughout the morning.

Clashes were also reported at the Chong Chom border crossing in Dan subdistrict, Kap Choeng district. Gunfire was heard intermittently from around 07.53 as Thai troops attempted to seize Wat Khla Khom Mum, located in the Chong Khla Khom Mum area. The temple lies between the permanent Chong Chom border checkpoint in Dan subdistrict and Chong Rayi in Takian subdistrict, which Thai forces had already fully secured earlier.

Cambodian troops reportedly resisted the advance, exchanging fire around Wat Khla Khom Mum as Thai forces pushed forward. The confrontation added another pressure point to the already tense situation along the Surin frontier, with multiple areas experiencing simultaneous engagements.

Daily News reported that authorities continue to closely monitor the unfolding situation as fighting persists. Security forces remain on high alert, and residents in border communities have been urged to remain cautious while the clashes continue.

Cambodian soldiers have reportedly fired a barrage of BM-21 multiple rocket launcher rounds across the border into Thailand’s Sisaket province, causing injuries to civilians in a border community. The alleged strike was said to have hit civilian homes rather than military positions, raising concerns about the safety of residents living near the Thailand–Cambodia border.
