Two Dead In Brown University Shooting As Suspect Remains At Large

 

Two people have been killed and eight others critically injured in a shooting at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island, prompting a major police manhunt and a shelter-in-place order across the campus and surrounding area.

 

The attack unfolded at around 16:05 local time on Saturday, according to police. Emergency services rushed multiple victims to hospital, where officials said those injured are currently in a stable condition. Providence Mayor Brett Smiley warned, however, that the casualty toll could still rise as the situation develops.

 

Police said the suspect is a male dressed entirely in black who fled the scene on foot. He remains at large, and authorities have urged residents and students to stay indoors while the search continues. Officers are conducting door-to-door inquiries and reviewing CCTV footage from the area.

One individual was arrested shortly after the shooting, but police later confirmed that the person had no involvement and was released.

 

Brown University issued emergency alerts urging students and staff to shelter in place and avoid the affected area. Classes and campus activities were immediately suspended as law enforcement secured buildings and expanded the perimeter around the university.

 

President Donald Trump said he had been briefed on the shooting. The White House has not released further details, but federal authorities are understood to be in contact with state and local law enforcement.

That’s the price it takes for them to not give a damn, and having no conscience, about protecting US citizens and letting more nut jobs loose to cause more death and destruction.
