A Thai man has issued a warning about a pickpocket gang operating in Bangkok’s Chinatown after CCTV evidence revealed three women stealing from a tourist. The footage, shared by Chanatib Bunpasoet-chn on social media, shows the gang targeting a foreign woman on Songwat Road. This incident underscores the need for tourists in the area to be vigilant against such criminal activities.

In the video, the suspects wore disguises including hats and face masks, using umbrellas to obscure the view during the theft. The footage captures one woman in a brown T-shirt skillfully removing items from the victim's bag and passing them to an accomplice. The foreign tourist became suspicious when the same suspect attempted a second theft, prompting her to distance herself from the group.

Although Chanatib shared the video on social media, he didn't specify the stolen items' value or confirm a police report. He urged the public to remain vigilant and to inform authorities if they recognize the women in the footage. This incident comes amid growing concerns over similar crimes targeting tourists in the area.

In a related development, police recently apprehended two Vietnamese nationals in Bangkok’s Din Daeng district linked to pickpocketing. The arrests were made following a report from a security guard at Wat Pho who noticed suspicious behavior. The suspects were recognized from earlier CCTV footage and confessed to planning further thefts.

The two individuals illegally entered Thailand, each paying a Thai national to assist their crossing via the Mekong River. This case highlights ongoing efforts by authorities to tackle cross-border crime and underscores the persistent nature of pickpocketing gangs in tourist hotspots.

Looking forward, travelers in Bangkok are advised to stay cautious, especially in crowded places like Chinatown. Police are expected to enhance their surveillance and patrols to deter such incidents. Meanwhile, authorities continue their investigation into the broader network behind these thefts to prevent future occurrences, reported The Thaiger.
