Putin warns that Moscow will extend gains if peace talks fail

Featured Replies

  • Popular Post

Putin warned Wednesday that Moscow will seek to extend its gains in Ukraine if Kyiv and its Western allies reject the Kremlin’s demands in peace talks.

U.S. President Donald Trump has unleashed an extensive diplomatic push to end nearly four years of fighting following Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, but Washington’s efforts have run into sharply conflicting demands by Moscow and Kyiv.

Speaking at an annual meeting with top military officers, Putin said Moscow would prefer to achieve its goals and “eliminate the root causes of the conflict” by diplomatic means, but he added that “if the opposing side and its foreign patrons refuse to engage in substantive dialogue, Russia will achieve the liberation of its historical lands by military means.”

But he won't be extending anything by submarine just yet there is some pumping out to be done🤔

As it going Russia is moving quickly (in terms of an attritional war) on the battlefield. Siversk which held for years was captured recently in days. Pokrovsk is gone and Myrnohrad which is fully surrounded has only days left. Russisn troops are now in Huliaipole and this should fall quickly as it's being reported Ukrainian troops are pulling out. I've posted many times that this war will end on the battlefield not at the negotiation table and this is still my stance. The three biggest sticking points of contention are territory, NATO and a ceasefire. Although Zylenskyy has agreed to not joining NATO he wants some type of article 5 guarantee, will not hand over territory and Putin will not agree to a ceasefire as Russian troops have the upper hand on the battlefield, won't handback the territory he wants and will obviously see the article 5 inclusion as de facto NATO membership. The longer these "peace talks" take the more territory Russia takes.

Alas denying reality doesn't change reality. No "Kremlin shill" from me. It's what's happening. Bury your head in the sand for as long as you like but it won't change what you refuse to acknowledge.

Putin and Russian Defense Minister Andrei Belousov used Russia’s seizure of small- and medium-sized settlements to support false Russia claims that Russian forces can rapidly seize the significantly larger population centers comprising Ukraine’s Fortress Belt.

Belousov also claimed that Russian forces seized Siversk and Pokrovsk (which ISW has not observed evidence to confirm) and noted that Russian forces are currently trying to seize Hulyaipole and Lyman. Russian forces have often spent months trying to seize these small- and medium-sized settlements and have notably been fighting within Pokrovsk itself for almost 140 days.[14]

Belousov claimed that Russian forces have seized 6,000 square kilometers along the entire frontline during 2025 — an area smaller than the US state of Delaware and just under one percent of Ukraine’s total land area.[15] ISW assesses that Russian forces have seized only 4,699.04 square kilometers in 2025 — an area slightly larger than the size of Rhode Island.[16] Even Belousov’s exaggerated claims about Russian advances demonstrate the slow pace of those advances. Belousov claimed that the Russian seizure of the Fortress Belt will enable Russian forces to “quickly” seize the remainder of Donetsk Oblast, but his statements about Russian advances in 2025 are actually in line with ISW’s assessment that it will take Russian forces two or more years to seize the remainder of Donetsk Oblast at great cost.[17]

For the two that gave this post of mine laughing emojis let me show you why you're either ignorant or trolling. Quite possibly both.

The satellite imagery confirms that the UUV — named by the SBU as a Sub Sea Baby, a previously unknown type — detonated off the stern of the submarine, which was at a pier in the port of Novorossiysk. A substantial chunk of the pier itself was destroyed in the attack. This all aligns with video footage shot during the attack from a position on the ground nearby, which the SBU released yesterday.

Yes, I can see a submarine, but does it show the sub is undamaged, cos I don't trust anything Putin's media says, though you might.....?😏

It's floating. It wasn't sunk. Did it take some damage? More than likely. Was it critical damage? Obviously not. It's not on the bottom.

It can have a lot of damage and not sink, but it seems you don't know that it wasn't damaged, which is what I was asking........🥴

In the beginning it was a war of maneuver. Ukraine had the strength to push Russian troops back but not enough to push them all the way back across the border. Now it's a totally different war. It's war of attrition and deny all you like the Russians are winning that war. Ukraine's biggest problem is manpower. Plug one hole and another opens. Reality is Russia continues to capture territory.

Heaven knows what you get out talking such tripe.................😒

You don't understand that Russia has moved very little in FOUR YEARS, sadly what they are sitting in is their own-killed fields.......😏

6 months ago or so I said Pokrovsk and Mynorhad would be taken by the end of the year. Pokrovsk is gone and Myrnohrad is physically surrounded (according to most independent mappers) and will more than likely be completely captured within a week. Siversk held out for years but has just fallen to the Russians in a matter of days. Russian troops are now well into Huliaipole and when that falls (and it will) there's not much in the way of defenses between there and  Zaporizhzhia. On the southern flank of Zap Russian troops are only 20 odd km away (so in FPV drone range) but the main attack will come from the east. As I said this will likely happen in 6-12 months from now if Zeleskyy does not take what's on offer. I could be wrong. It might be sooner.

You fail to understand it's now a war of attrition with drones flying everywhere. Going a hundred metres is extremely dangerous. Last month according to independent assessment Russia took around 750 km2. This month they have captured Pokrovsk, Mynohrad (about to be fully taken) and Siversk and now moving into Huliaipole. That's not what I'd call  "sitting in is their own-killed fields.......😏"

In property matters, only the last owner always matters. If you bought an apartment, you don't care about any historical owners except the last one. The last owner of these territories was determined during the last world war in 1945. Therefore, Putin won't lay claim to Poland or Alaska.

The reality of the push for Khiv was the Russian supply lines from Belorussia stalled due to a colossal logistical fustercluck by the Russians, and they had to retreat.

The Russians have learned nothing, they are incrementally... glacially taking pockets of land on the eastern front while targeting human habitation and power infrastructure in the west (but MOSTLY where people live) in a blind bludgeoning of an enemy they've invented to fit Putin's narrative.
