Foreign nationals have widely praised “Rimmi”, an artificial intelligence assistant introduced by Rayong Immigration, for improving access to official information in multiple languages and reducing communication errors. The system, highlighted on 21 December 2025, provides round-the-clock assistance to visitors and residents dealing with immigration matters. Its immediate impact has been a smoother service experience and reduced anxiety for non-Thai speakers.

The initiative emerged as part of efforts to modernise public services in Thailand’s Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC), a strategic area that hosts growing numbers of foreign workers, investors and tourists. Rayong Immigration developed Rimmi to answer frequently asked questions, explain procedures clearly in different languages, and ease pressure on frontline officers. The project followed earlier announcements introducing Rimmi as an intelligent assistant designed to “clear all immigration matters” for foreign nationals.

The development aligns with the Royal Thai Police’s “1-6-9 (169)” policy framework under Police General Kitrat Phanphet, the National Police Chief. The policy focuses on “1 commitment, 6 accelerations and 9 steps forward (STEP)” to build a Smart Police force that is modern, transparent, efficient and people-centred. Within the Immigration Bureau, the policy direction has been driven by Pol Lt Gen Phanumart Boonyalak, Commissioner of the Immigration Bureau.

Implementation at regional level has been overseen by Pol Maj Gen Songprod Sirisukha, Commander of Immigration Division 3, with close supervision from Pol Col Detcho Sosuwanakul, Deputy Commander of Immigration Division 3. Operational development in Rayong has been led by Pol Col Komwut Jongboonwatana, Superintendent of Rayong Immigration, and Pol Lt Col Chuanชัย Chanterm, Deputy Superintendent. Their team refined the system until it delivered practical, measurable results in daily operations.

Reactions from foreign users on social media have highlighted improved clarity, reduced misunderstandings and easier access to information at any time of day. Officials say Rimmi has also helped reduce repetitive enquiries handled by officers, allowing staff to focus on more complex cases. The initiative reflects a broader administrative approach that applies technology directly to real-world service needs.

Naewna reported that Rayong Immigration’s experience is expected to serve as a model for other offices, particularly in high-demand areas within the EEC. Continued alignment with the 169 policy framework suggests further expansion of practical digital tools in immigration services. Authorities indicate the focus will remain on usability, efficiency and public accessibility.
