No. If you are Joe Nobody you would have to be incredibly vain to Google yourself. Plus, you may not like what you find out about yourself.

me be mr anonymous

Yes. On page 1 google search today. As long as you know my middle name.

Founder/director 501c3/NGO.

And the mention that pops up on US government website goes back almost 15 years.

In the UK it certainly pays to be anonymous, so the cops can't find you for posting on social media.

If I google myself I find more than 100 entries 🙂 (And no, there isn't another famous person with the same name as me...)

Yes. The earliest mention of my name is from the 13th. century ... but I don't think that's me. A bigwig of the time.

Nothing more until I posted on a British Merchant Navy forum and another group re. a personal interest. Only 3 entries on those in total.

Plenty of mentions of the village whose name I bear.

Anonymity is good.

Not Google, but other searches.

When I was having a criminal background check done I got curious and did some searching on the internet.

I found two convicted murderers with my name from my home state.

I will say that one murderer seemed to have good cause. He killed his stepdad because the stepdad was controlling his mind.

Yes, and I don't show up, although I have changed my last name 2X since 2000.  Birth name doesn't show.  1st name change shows on defunct sites.  Present name, not at all, as I only use with brokerage site, and they can't share it.

I have a unique legal first name, 'LA' so it won't be confused with any other person.

Out of curiousity, why have you changed your name 2 times?  Apart from maiden name/married women tradition, I thought only wanted criminals change their name 🙂

Took ex wife's name, as not a fan of mine, and took my daughter's last name.   As a single parent, with no adoption paperwork, farang with Thai kid, checking into hotel, 3 months of a year, I didn't want the chance being accused of pedo, and since her birth parents were MIA, and I'd probably be in general pop for way too long before anything was sorted out.

I've been more surprised by Googling my cell phone number. That thing follows you everywhere.

So the stepfather was responsible for his own death,   lol    Sounds to me that the nutter just thought the stepfather was "controlling" his mind

Yes, I google myself all the time, and it would be much nicer not to appear at all.

Not to mention I have so many haters on AN I live in permanent fear for my life.

Fame is a terrible thing.

I just did a Google picture search with my photo but the only thing that I get is some guy called Brad Pitt. 😕

Dont have to. I know who I am

Only when there wasn’t a woman available.

What username did you look under.............?................🤣

My usernames (same 2 or 3) are all over the place, as I use same usernames, for multiple photo, drone sites, groups, which I no long belong or post in.  Don't do forums, except AN, and that's coming to an end.  Nor any other 'forums' as I notice people talking about forums linked to news site.

Holy Buddha, makes you wonder how some have anytime at all, off line, with all the forums they belong to :cheesy:

Edit:  That's interesting, just googled KhunLA, and nothing, as there's a Khulna, and seems to dominate first few result pages, and I'm looking past 3 of them.

Yes M8, I just did !

I find my picture is there with a Link'dIn' contact - but ttbomk, I have never joined. Just quotes my last position in a Company. 20 years ago maybe

In my line of work, we had a guy who was a bit of a sociopath and well dodgy after a crew change and some beers, so he got blacklisted by both clients and the contractors he was supposed to supervise. Then he changed his name to his then wife's family name. He managed about another year before his game was rumbled, and he had to quit completely. Rumour has it, he's trying out the trans method...

Back on topic, I've been checking my web 'presence' as a matter of course for about 8 years now. Maybe a couple of times a year. Nothing to do with vanity but due to many of my potential employers and the agencies they use for head-hunting, visiting social media to check if their candidate was a Walter Mitty, a cowboy, a clown or, more recently, knew Epstein. Happy to report that, on just checking again, I am not to be found in the first 10 pages on a Google search. I believe that's mainly because I left Facebook over 15 years ago and haven't indulged in anything similar since.

I think forum membership is relatively 'safe' unless you like to post more personal stuff, or your employer does it for you on LinkedIn. With the expanded use of AI, there's probably a bigger chance of your facial image being 'scraped' regardless of what the social media or forum states in their privacy policy.

I don't need to search Google to know im a loser.

Been a while and it only pulled up a picture when googled 5 minutes ago.  I was more relevant and I showed up numerous times just five years ago.   Oh well and I do try not to leave an online trail.  Tempting at times to be more open online but not worth the small risk.  It seems sites are hiding user  info much better.  Events I participated in constantly showed up but now they are gone.

Doubled 2 houses then sold. Hit the top in both markets. Won big in Canadian weed stocks then put it all back in at the top right before it crashed. Did well in 2020 crypto bull run but in hindsight did horrible considering the gains I could have made.

Marriage. 1 and done for me. Sort of balanced 😁 but im still up.

Set up Google alerts on myself and a few other people about 20 years ago.  Only really interesting thing that alerted was a friends data - utility provider in Panama accidentally posted a customer database online.

Also this with your Google account monitors for personal data in search results. myactivity.google.com/results-about-you

Who hasn't?

It's like asking a man if he's ever had a <deleted>.
