Myanmar’s Union Minister for Immigration and Population, U Myint Kyaing, joined local elders and officials in Wakema Township, Ayeyawady Region, for the consecration of 1,000 Buddha images on 24 December. The ceremony, held at Thangarama Beikman Hall, combined religious observance with community engagement.

Attendees observed the Five Precepts led by the presiding Sayadaw of Kungyankone Monastery, listened to Paritta recitations, and made offerings of robes and donations to the Sangha. A sermon followed, with participants sharing the merit of their contributions before offering an early meal to the monks.

Beyond the religious rites, the minister visited the Relic Pagoda in Kyonmange Town, where immigration staff were delivering services under Phase Three of the Pan Khin Project. This initiative includes household registration, replacement of lost or damaged Citizenship Scrutiny Cards (CSCs), and issuing new CSCs to citizens reaching the age of 18.

Officials demonstrated the One Stop Service system, which streamlines registration and CSC issuance, while also collecting biometric data through the e‑ID system to provide unique identification numbers. U Myint Kyaing offered guidance to staff, addressed operational needs, and explained to residents the importance of CSCs, particularly for voting in the upcoming general election.

Later, the minister personally handed verified CSCs to recipients and provided financial assistance and food supplies to support township immigration staff in their fieldwork.

In the afternoon, he visited Sattyon Dhamma Yeiktha Monastery in Kyonmange Town, paying respects to the presiding Sayadaw, Bhaddanta Sumana. He offered robes and donations, and discussed matters relating to religious affairs.

The day’s events highlighted the government’s dual focus on cultural traditions and administrative reforms, blending spiritual observance with practical measures aimed at strengthening civic participation.
