Iran emergency as 'death to the dictator' demos rock the regime.

Iran emergency as 'death to the dictator' demos rock the regime.

Iran has imposed a state of emergency in Tehran as anti-regime protests erupted across the capital, with demonstrators chanting “death to the dictator” and vowing that “this year is the year of blood” in opposition to Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. The unrest broke out within hours of President Masoud Pezeshkian declaring that Iran is now in “full-scale war” with the US, Israel and Europe — remarks widely seen as sanctioned by Khamenei himself.

Businesses across Tehran shut their doors as bazaar workers and traders flooded the streets to protest collapsing living standards, corruption and intensifying repression. Security forces, including the feared Iranian Revolutionary Guard, were deployed as reinforcements were reportedly placed on standby in several provinces amid fears the unrest could spread. Despite emergency measures, demonstrations rolled into a second day.

Opposition leader Maryam Rajavi said the protests reflected the anger of a population “fed up with high prices, poverty and suppression,” urging broader resistance against the clerical regime. Even state-aligned economists admitted the system’s legitimacy is at historic lows, with corruption “infiltrating all parts of the apparatus” and large parts of Iran’s banking assets reportedly “imaginary.”

Iran’s currency collapse, inflation now above 50 percent and a deepening food crisis have fuelled fears of social breakdown. A former regime vice president warned that hungry citizens could soon take to the streets nationwide. At the same time, executions have surged to their highest levels in two decades as the state attempts to terrorise opponents into silence.

Human rights monitors say nearly 2,000 people have been executed this year — more than double last year’s toll. But the mounting defiance from traders and workers suggests public desperation may now be overtaking fear.

Key Takeaways

  • Tehran declares emergency as anti-regime protests spread for a second day

  • Economic collapse, inflation and corruption drive rising public anger

  • Executions surge as regime clamps down — but dissent continues to grow

If the government is forced out, the regime leaders and all the Revolutionary Guard will be welcome in the UK, and they'd feel at home in London or Bradford.

Wonder what the pro Palestinians stance on this will be  ?

Hope the Iranian regimes survives ,m just so the regional war against Israel will continue  , or would they rather the Iranian people be free from the dictatorship at the sacrifice of the war against Israel ?

I smell another attempt at regime change.

A people's revolution versus a revolution led by Muslim clerics?

Its coming, I called it a while ago. I might be off a few weeks.

These protestors certainly have courage. They could very easily be beaten or shot at the protest, or even more likely picked up at their homes in the next few days. Once arrested torture including rape seems the norm for all political prisoners. Hanging, possibly public hanging, after a few months of incarceration is not an infrequent practice.

They are truly brave.

Fail.

Between 90-95% of the UK Muslim community is Sunni, whereas Irans leaders, RevolutIonary Guards, and the vast majority of its population, are Shia.

They tend to be antagonistic towards each other.........very antagonistic.

As antagonistic as Protestants and Catholics in 16th/17th century Europe.......probably a forlorn hope for you to see the parallels as you almost certainly know **** all about that as well.
