Trump-Greenland Clash: Danish Official Voices Disagreement

Featured Replies

IF this was solely about defence of the USA you have been given access for this purpose and I believe at one stage had many bases in Greenland but then packed up and left your rusting trucks and debris behind. So this is not about defence.

If USA does not take it over Russia or China will. Who told you that Donald?

Spot on. If it looked like a hot war was about to break out, the US would move right into Greenland. They wouldn't waste time haggling with a bunch of goofy looking locals. Oldtimers will remember how

Your factoid - while correct - is totally misleading. The implication that US military installations on Greenland are unimportant is flat-out wrong. The Thule AFB, established in 1943 became a key ele

This is political theatre of the most transparent kind. The US already has a significant military presence in Greenland. In the event of hostilities with China or Russia, it would become another Ameri

If you don't support it, it's because Trump is the president. You'd probably be totally onboard if it were Biden's idea. This gives the anti-Trump brigade something to latch onto.

A tiny country the size of Maryland, with a population of 6 million and a total GDP of about 500 billion, controlling Greenland from a great distance is absurd. If the US doesn't take it, China or Russia will likely do so.

Greenland 2.1M sq km, 836,000 sq ml

Maryland 32,130 sq km, 12,000 sq ml

Greenland is just a tad larger than Maryland

The USA invaded Iraq and Libya, ruining both countries, and resulting in the death of countless innocent civilians. Hopefully the Greenland issue will be settled with less violence.

This is not about defence it about rare earth minerals, but Trump has no idea !! the cost of mining is approx 5 times more than normai due to the conditions , and who is going to refine these minerals ?? the us can refine but at a very very limited capacity normally the usa uses china and again the cost if the usa do its is enormous, trump has not thought this through

Dear Lord, please take 47!

And the clown and dictator just raised the tariffs with another 10 percent on every country supporting Denmark, among them Norway.. 🤣🤣🤣

Trump is really a crying baby.. Is this a sitcom? Even Monthly Python couldn't have done it better..

Forget tariffs about time we boycotted American goods completely where possible and told Trump to get all his bases and military personnel out of Europe.

The real reason America has bases in Europe are not to protect Europe they are primarily there to protect America more specifically its east coast.

America does not want or need a hostile Europe.

I'll admit I was confused about Trump's position on Greenland and Canada, until I came across Operation War Plan Red from the 1920's. Conceived by John Quincy Adams great grandson Charles Adams, it was a military strategy to protect the US from an invasion by Great Britain. Yes, before Switzerland conspired to train Lenin and make America's ally, Russia, into the big bad guy, it was the British Empire who were considered the most serious threat to America. Operation War Plan Red was designed to defend the US against a British attack using Canada as a proxy.

If you look at a globe, Greenland is directly in the path halfway between Britain and the Canadian border with the USA. The strategic national interest of the US in Greenland isn't to defend against Russia, but to defend against the British Empire. It always has been. What we are witnessing with the takeover of Greenland (and Canada) is the final phase of America's war for Independence from Britain. It is the final defeat of the British Crown and a triumph of the American Republic over the last vestiges of Empire. The capture of Greenland is crucial to destroying the offensive capabilities of the British Commonwealth, which has been the real enemy of America all along, and continues to be more dangerous to America than Russia.

When you understand the City of London is the actual enemy, everything Trump is doing makes perfect sense. He's adapted War Plan Red for modern times. Watch and see how this plays out. If you think Russia is the bad guy in this world, you're about to get a wake up call. This is why I am quite certain Trump has chosen the sesquicentennial in July of this year to play a pivotal role. Whatever is going to happen, the world will look completely different after that. The fact that the battle has been limited to the theater of espionage warfare over the last century rather than kinetic attacks doesn't change the reality of this.

this is normal practice for militaries to prepare for all manner of scenarios, even against allies. nothing new to that ,

War Plan Red first set out a description of Canada's geography, military resources, and transportation and went on to evaluate a series of possible pre-emptive American campaigns to invade Canada nothing to do with greenland

Unfortunatly not going to happen he would be too worried Trump would hit him with tariffs.

Eu & UK and Canada , and all USA's major trade partners and allies worldwide , only have to call Trumps bluff , put 100% tarriffs on all USA products and services , and the orange bully will fold,, as internal pressure from USA companies, banks, pentagon, wall street and sane heads will prevail.. Its simple really
