A 25-year-old motorcyclist was killed in a head-on collision with a pickup truck while riding home in Saraburi province on the evening of 15 January, leaving his family distraught at the scene. The crash occurred at about 5.00pm on Nong No Road in Moo 10, Nong No subdistrict, Mueang district, on a two-lane road. Emergency responders confirmed the rider died at the scene from severe head and neck injuries.

Police identified the deceased as Mr Phichaimongkol, a resident of Moo 4, Ban Nai, Nong No subdistrict. His grey Honda Forza motorcycle was found extensively damaged, with the front crushed back towards the seat of the vehicle. The victim was discovered lying nearby with the right side of his skull crushed and a broken neck.

The pickup truck involved was a black Isuzu, which sustained heavy front-end damage, plus a cracked windscreen and deployed airbags. Engine oil was reported to have spilled onto the road surface following the impact. The road where the collision occurred is a two-lane carriageway with no physical separation between directions.

The pickup driver, Mr Luean, told police he had been driving at about 70 kilometres per hour while taking his uncle from a nearby house in Nong No to seek medical treatment in Bangkok. He said the motorcycle attempted to overtake three to four cars and moved into his lane but was unable to complete the manoeuvre before colliding with the front of his vehicle. He added that he did not swerve to avoid the crash because next to the roadside was a water irrigation canal and there were passengers in his vehicle, including his unwell uncle.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Srawit Jaemjaeng, Deputy Investigation Officer at Mueang Saraburi Police Station, said an inquiry is under way to establish the precise cause of the crash. Officers will examine CCTV footage from the area to reconstruct the sequence of events and verify statements provided at the scene. The investigation will determine whether any charges are to be brought.

Matichon reported that the victim’s body has been released to relatives for religious funeral rites. Authorities have reiterated warnings to motorists about the dangers of overtaking on undivided two-lane roads, particularly at speed, as the investigation continues.

A motorcycle did that? The wreck of the bike doesn't seem to be too bad.
