A construction worker was critically injured after a lift platform fell from the third floor of a building under construction on Monday morning, 26 January 2026. The incident occurred at about 08:30, prompting emergency responders to rush to the scene and provide urgent medical assistance. The worker sustained multiple injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment.

The incident happened inside a three-storey house under construction at the Baan Fah Mi Aad Kan housing estate, Moo 6, Nong Prue subdistrict, Bang Lamung district, Chonburi. The property sits on a plot of approximately 50 square wah and was undergoing active building work at the time. Rescue personnel from the Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Foundation in Pattaya arrived with ambulances and volunteer teams after receiving reports of a lift falling with a person injured.

At the lower level of the lift shaft, responders found the injured worker identified as Mr Tithanont, aged 27. He suffered a laceration to the left side of his forehead, swelling around the left eye, a visibly deformed left wrist, severe pain in his right knee, and abrasions to his face and body. First aid was administered at the scene before he was transported to hospital for further treatment.

According to statements from fellow workers, Mr Tithanont had been working on the lift at the third-floor level when the cable suddenly snapped. The failure caused the lift to plunge down the shaft and strike the ground floor with force. The impact resulted in the injuries observed by rescue teams.

Police attended the site and documented the scene, including taking photographs as part of the initial investigation. Preliminary findings indicate that the cable used to support the lift was too thin and unable to bear the required weight, leading to the breakage.

Amarin reported that police will continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the incident, including equipment specifications and work procedures. Further action will depend on the outcome of the investigation and any additional findings related to compliance with construction safety regulations.

Dangerous place to be on any construction site here in Thailand.

Yet another totally avoidable issue. No point is saying anything like "those responsible should be jailed" as it'll never happen.

Better the cable snapped before the lift was being used by the public.

Looks like it was It was a temporary construction lift. The passenger elevator was not installed. If it had been a passenger device, emergency locking brakes would have deployed.

I thought lifts had brakes that slowed the car to a stop when they cable breaks?

Maybe a different brand.

What are the lottery numbers?

You would also expect th cable to have been capable of supporting substantially more than one guy on board. More to the storey that likely includes some dangerous practices. And elsewhere, another crane topples.
