Court Denies Bail for Eight Teens in Fatal Shooting Case

The Criminal Court has denied bail to eight teenage suspects accused of fatally shooting a 13-year-old boy, ordering their immediate detention due to the seriousness of the alleged offence and the high potential sentence. The court ruled that the case involved grave and violent conduct that posed a risk if the suspects were released. All eight were transferred to Bangkok Remand Prison following the decision.

The suspects, aged between 18 and 19, were arrested in connection with a shooting that occurred on the night of 23 January in Soi Phahonyothin 57, Anusawari subdistrict, Bang Khen district, Bangkok. The victim, a 13-year-old boy, was reportedly sitting and socialising with friends when he was shot and later died from his injuries. Police from Bang Khen Police Station charged the group with jointly committing homicide and firearms offences under Thailand’s gun control law.

On 26 January, investigators brought the eight suspects before the Criminal Court on Ratchadaphisek Road to seek their first detention order. Police requested a 12-day remand period from 25 January to 6 February 2026, citing the need to question additional witnesses, await criminal record checks and complete forensic examinations of the seized firearms. Investigators formally opposed bail, arguing that the offence was exceptionally serious, carried severe penalties and could lead to flight if temporary release were granted.

The court accepted the detention request and later considered bail applications submitted by the suspects’ relatives, who offered assets as security. After reviewing the circumstances and the investigating officer’s objections, the court rejected all bail requests. Officials from the Department of Corrections then escorted the eight suspects to Bangkok Remand Prison for continued custody.

The case has also involved younger individuals linked to the same incident. Police confirmed that five additional suspects who are legally classified as juveniles were separated from the adult proceedings. These five were transferred on 24 January to the Min Buri branch of the Juvenile and Family Court, where their cases are being handled under a different legal process.

Daily News reported that authorities say the investigation remains ongoing as officers continue to gather evidence to support the prosecution. Police are focusing on strengthening the case through witness testimony, forensic analysis, and verification of each suspect’s role in the shooting. Further legal steps will depend on the completion of these investigative procedures and upcoming court hearings.

Key Takeaways

• The Criminal Court denied bail to eight suspects aged 18–19 in a fatal shooting of a 13-year-old boy.

• Judges cited the gravity of the alleged crime, high penalties, and risk of flight in rejecting temporary release.

• Five juvenile suspects linked to the case are being tried separately in the Juvenile and Family Court.

Obviously not Red Bull grandchildren then.

...Good Call...

...'Eighteen & Nineteen'... At Least They Weren't Called 'Children'...(?)

...Even 'Teenagers' Would Suggest A Degree Of Innocence...Which In The Case Described Is Totally Absent...(?)

Well those very young adults just screwed up their lives.

Maybe they have now realised violent video games are NOTHING like reality but sadly it's too late, "she cried"

Hoping that they can find enough evidence to put these guys away for decades, a labor camp would seem appropriate.

I wonder if even their mothers would miss them?

The court has to hit them hard and send a message that that this type of behavior isn't tolerated.

Holding eight is a lot if people for a single gun crime. Even if it's murder.

Were they all in a gang that preyed on younger teens or was this a planned killing? So much info missing.

There must be a shed nearby they can take them out behind and do what needs to be done.
