Crime suppression police have arrested three Chinese nationals suspected of links to scam operations after locating them in a rented room in Bangkok’s Bang Khun Thian area. The men were detained on January 27, 2026, on immigration charges after authorities said they had entered Thailand illegally and were hiding while planning to flee to a third country. All three are now in police custody pending legal proceedings and deportation.

The arrests were carried out by officers from the Crime Suppression Division following intelligence received by the Anti Cyber Scam Center. The centre operates under the direction of Pol Lt Gen Jiraphop Phuridet, Assistant National Police Chief, and Pol Lt Gen Nattasak Chewonasai, Commissioner of the Central Investigation Bureau. Police said the suspects were believed to have connections to scammer gangs operating along the Thai–Myanmar border.

According to police, the operation was ordered by Pol Maj Gen Phattanatsak Bupphasuwan, commander of the Crime Suppression Division. Investigators led by Pol Col Netiwit Thanasitnitikun and his team confirmed that three Chinese men were staying at a residence in Bang Khun Thian, Chom Thong district. Officers obtained a search warrant from the Thonburi Criminal Court before entering the premises.

The suspects were identified as Mr Xin, aged 32, Mr Guoping, aged 37, and Mr Ziyu, aged 31, all Chinese nationals. They were charged with remaining in the Kingdom without permission and reported they had entered Thailand on December 31, 2025.

During questioning, the men admitted they had previously worked for scammer gangs based in neighbouring Myanmar. They told police they fled into Thailand via Mae Sot district in Tak province after intensified crackdowns on scam operations across the border. The suspects said they then hid in Bangkok while preparing to travel onwards to a third country.

Police said examinations of the suspects’ mobile phones found no significant data. Investigators believe the men changed their phones and SIM cards while fleeing into Thailand to avoid detection. Authorities stated that the suspects will be handed to investigators at Crime Suppression Division Sub-Division 2 for legal proceedings.

After completion of the case, officials confirmed the three men will be deported from Thailand in accordance with legal procedures. The case forms part of wider efforts by Thai authorities to dismantle transnational scam networks operating in the region.
