Cheap Places To Stay In Phuket Preferably On/near The Beach

Hi All

I travelling to Thailand with my husband on 31st Oct till 9th Nov. I m planning to spend most of the time in phuket ( traveling to near by destinations ) and 1 day in pattaya and 2 days in bangkok. Can you please suggest, cheap places to stay in phuket on/near the beach - we are not stuck up on facilities, but would want the place to be safe ( preferebly with attach bathroom ).

Which beach should we stay on ?

How would the weather be at that time ?

Can we travel to Krabi and near by islands with ease ?

What is the best way to travel from bangkok to phuket? are trains / buses available-if yes, are they recommendeable ?

I know these are lot of questions but I want to plan the trip with perfection.

Thanks,

Vineeta

Not sure what you mean by cheap but this Karlssons Phuket is a good value. Located about 200 meters from Patong Beach one of the busiest in Phuket. It also has one of the best steaks found in Phuket. I have been there often and find the rooms to be clean and the staff very efficient. If you enjoy night life Patong is best but if you want peace and quiet choose one of the other beaches.

Also you can find lots of good stuff about Phuket here .

Buses, planes and trains run daily Bangkok to Phuket.

Travel to islands and ajoining areas like Krabi are also, readily available thru travel agencies in Phuket.

Expect to get quite a lot of rain during your stay. Look here for Phuket Seasons and Weather.

Have fun!!

Hi

Thanks for the quick response. You are right I should have described "cheap". It would translate into naything under 1200INR ie, 1000 THB.

How come there would be rains? All tourist web sites quote nov as high tourist season? So are rains really bad-I mean do they last for hours and hours, does it lead to water clogging etc.

Travel in and around phuket - are travel agencies cheap or do they come at a premium ?

Let me think of more questions in the meantime!

Thanks,

Click on the underlined in my previous post and I think you will find answers to all your questions.

I don't think there are daily trains from bangkok to phuket.

If so, they sure built the tracks in a hurry since a week or so ago when i was up near Surat.

(flying is probably the best way to answer your question)

Rainy season should be over by Nov but you never can tell anymore with the wacky weather worldwide.

Rainy season isn't a bad thing unless you are coming only for a tan.

You sound like one of those people who like to plan every minute of their trip before they leave home.

I've always found it's best to have spontaneity in your trip and go with the flow.

There are plenty of travel agents all over phuket. They usually do not charge much for their services (Patong is a different world and i'm not sure of the rates over there)
