Yes, I'm like your psychiatrist trying to make you understand yourself, but with what you have, it's rather futile as there is no hope. Anything you say is possibly a lie or exaggeration, as that's how you work.

Can you point to even a single lie or exaggeration? If you are a psychiatrist, you would demonstrate that to me, to convince me that you are telling the truth, therefore helping me to understand that the problem is one of my own making.

So, show me the lie or exaggeration.

I must say though: Thai cooks do a dynamite job at FUSION CUISINE...meaning an amalgam of Thai-Food plus either Western-Food or Chinese-Food. I once had a great Vindaloo done by a Thai chef, but Vindaloo is a Western dish, or recipe, as far as I know.

Anyway: Thai chefs are great at FUSION...

(Am not talking about Nuclear Fusion, either.)

Vindaloo is a fusion of Portuguese and Indian... often described as a Goan dish.

You statement of what you claim that you meant has changed enormously since Page 9 of your original statement. Blaming others for you not writing clearly what you meant in the first place, merely demonstrates your own poor character and inability to communicate.

Why did you now write exactly that on Page 9 or page 10? I'll tell you why...because that is not what you meant. You have just changed what you meant to fit in with now.

I'm not blaming others about anything. I pointed out to you what I meant, and you still refuse to see the forest for the trees. That you keep trolling is on you, which is a rather poor form of communication, turning things around to suit your own level of insanity. This has nothing to do with me nor anyone else here. This is on you.

There is something really wrong with you, and just the action of changing usernames, thinking you're hiding from others here, all the while acting the same way, and thinking others are too blind to see, also shows what kind of crazy you are.

I've explained myself enough. That you still don't get it and keep turning it on me shows your true character, and saying it's not what i meant, shows there's really something deep rooted wrong with your thinking. You learned this long ago, and hopefully for anyone's sake, you don't involve yourself with any normal people or children.

Good clarification.

I knew it was not Indian origin.

But, still, who does not love it, especially lamb.

I have been in this dialogue with you, so I am clearly aware of the direction and tempo of the conversation.

You changed the meaning throughout the conversation and now you have finally settled on the latest version, pretending that is what you meant in the first place. It's just dishonest and gives claim to the people who assert that you are the real narcissist and your ex may or may not have been. That is the perception here, whether you like it or not.

18.1K, as of now.

Must be using Agentic AI.

No other logical explanation for this.

How much was ST in India?

Fred why would Thai's spend 20,000 baht on a gas barbecue, just a decent one at that price? Most would not as they have cheap charcoal that is very efficient and natural, its not chemical laden and expensive like US briquets now.

I grew up in Saudi Arabia living in an American camp near Dhahran. By 1959 we had Webers. Did you know the original design was made from a sea buoy? Much like the barrels you describe. I used that grill with my dad until we moved back in 64. Moving to California we had a Weber again, always a nice model.

But that is there. Here I barbecued in a clay pot and a metal grill for my girlfriend who became my wife. She was thrilled and loved it. Thai's are grilling meat on most ever corner or a town. Be it chicken, pork, squid, hell most anything with so many marinades to cook with and such wonderful sauces to dip it it.

My first visits have a common memory, barbecue smell. Chicken, Mu Satay, and Mu ping now that is barbecue, as much as ribs, beans, and potato salad is.

I started off with a statement. You took it wrong. Simple, now get off it and act like an adult. No one in their right minds would see someone like me, after all I've said on this forum, as a narcissist. That you are is blatantly obvious, and your actions further prove this. Just changing usernames this many times, and thinking people don't see who you are, alone is a very strange habit.

You're again answering for others, and those others have your number now, although this might go over your head again. Stay away from my replies here, as I'm not wasting time arguing more with your kind. Turn your hidden self anger towards someone else, so they can also see you like many others here already have. You act this way towards everyone, in all your aliases, so I'm thinking most everyone knows you by now, so my work here is done.

I like clay pot food. Hang Lay is best in clay pot.

That's true, as most here haven't the funds nor desire to spend that much as they can use the little clay and metal ones I see my girlfriend use daily. I actually offered to buy her a larger one, but she refused, saying it isn't necessary as she has the others she's used to. I've also seen them make the charcoal here since I first moved here, in the dirt domes. Ingenuity at work.

I earned way less, I knew way less that I wish that i knew 10-15 years ago but even I earn another 1 time more than inflation caused, it was objectively way more fun and nice here back in those years, and as far I can tell money wise even insane much better prior to that. To claim otherwise I would call cognitive dissonance. And I mean this mostly regardless of the money part too, the vibes are just gone.

Hanoi has compensated and replicated it for me since 2018.

Home cooking is barely cheaper than restaurants. Plus Thais love wasting money. Some buy more food than they can eat and it gets chucked out.

I 'took it wrong'? I read exactly what you wrote. What you claim now is not at all what you wrote. Can you admit that you might have written it better? 😊

At what point can you admit that your behaviour plays a part? Do you really believe that you are infallible? 😊

For my part, there is no attempt at distraction, deflection, defensiveness et al. I haven't delved into your past. It is you doing all of that. I'm simply discussing the prevalence of BBQ here, contrary to your earlier assertions of there not being extensive barbecue facilities throughout Thailand, beyond grilling little sticks of meat and seafood. Which is exactly what you wrote and are now claiming that you meant something completely different from what you actually wrote. Weird. 😊

I can speak for others, as they are saying exactly the same thing about you. So it means they have noticed too.

"People glorify the past when the future dries up"

Bono

  • Author

People tend to glorify the past when the future feels uncertain or unattainable, often as a psychological response to present dissatisfaction or perceived loss of opportunity. This phenomenon is frequently described as a coping mechanism: when the future "dries up"—whether due to personal hardship, societal decline, or disillusionment—individuals may idealize the past as a source of comfort, stability, and meaning.

Nostalgia, while not inherently negative, can distort memory by emphasizing positive experiences while downplaying past hardships. As noted in reflections from Desiring God and Psychology Today, people often recall the past as more perfect than it was, especially when current life feels difficult. This romanticization can lead to a false belief that “your best days are behind you,” even though the past likely contained both joy and pain.

Disagree entirely, it is just objectively the case, as well visible on the streets since now already a decade actually. The peak was 2016 ish. And as I already stated virtually everything now in my life is 3X improved; freedom, money, etc etc. As well I didn't see this change elsewhere in SE asia.

This aside of virtually all majority agreeing, all true travelers and visitors were replaced since a decade by Chinese, Indians, Arabs, Russian/Ukranian increase. Same asean overall and every SE asian country their tourism is in positive growth except Thailand, since years.

I even would argue I see Vietnam and Malaysia only having improved over the years, instead of reverse. If what you said came even close to truth or reality I would have had the same issue in all of these countries as I spend all the years there as much.

My girlfriend cooks every day. Her sister in law next door rarely cooks and buys meals out all the time. You can save money here if you buy fresh veggies, eggs and fruits at local markets, and have a good refrigerator. Buying out can be cheap if you know where to go to get good food. There is an extreme amount of wasted food here, just like the US.

Was there last March, and wish I could have stayed longer. Next time it'll be south Vietnam for other sights and food. Coffee was the best, and miss the Banh Mi.

Eh no those are actually the statistical facts. And my opinion was added to that, as well with very good reasoning, you fail to even reply on it hence this reply. It's always the stuck expats who claim any objective critics or facts as nostalgia was the reason bla bla bla.

Racist facts perhaps. The Chinese and Malays arrived well before the farangs.

This is what my girlfriend uses all the time, for most everything. Besides that it's the little propane stove inside.
