Rupert Lowe has announced the launch of a new political party, Restore Britain, following his high-profile and contentious departure from Reform UK.

The independent MP for Great Yarmouth confirmed that Restore Britain was formally established on Friday evening, evolving from what had initially been described as a political movement. The party is designed to operate as an umbrella organisation, working alongside locally focused political groups across the country.

Lowe said he intends to contest the next election in his constituency under a local banner, Great Yarmouth First, which will affiliate with Restore Britain. The approach mirrors a decentralised political model, allowing regional groups to align under a broader national platform.

Restore Britain previously attracted senior Conservative figures, including Susan Hall and Gavin Williamson, who were involved in advisory roles when it was still a movement. It is not yet clear whether they will retain any involvement now that it has become a registered political party.

Lowe was suspended from Reform UK in March 2025 after allegations that he had threatened violence toward party chairman Zia Yusuf. Reform UK also said it had received complaints from staff members alleging bullying and derogatory remarks in Lowe’s offices. A complaint relating to verbal threats was reviewed by Scotland Yard.

Lowe strongly denied the allegations, describing them as “vexatious” and politically motivated. Following leaked messages in which Reform UK leader Nigel Farage reportedly criticised his conduct, Lowe publicly stated that Farage “must never become prime minister.”

Farage has said the party appointed legal counsel to examine the bullying claims, accusing Lowe of harming Reform UK ahead of key elections.

Regarding animals, factory farming should be banned wholesale, imo. No pig, chicken should live its life in a cage, unable to walk, never seeing daylight.

To ally myself with such a gang, and particularly with such a frothy mouthed loon as Rupert Lowe, who was unable to even cope with Nigel Farage's political revolving door?

I am rather keen on humane treatment of farmed animals, when in the UK I went to great (and rather expensive) lengths to only buy humanely raised and slaughtered meat. Here I attempt to do the same - probably with significantly less success. However joining forces with "Restore" on the grounds that they want to end Halal slaughter is a quite remarkable stretch!
