March 8Mar 8 A British man was injured after being attacked by fellow nationals inside a beer bar’s office in Pattaya shortly after midnight, early morning on 8 March 2026. The incident took place in a bar located in Soi Pattaya Beach 13. Emergency responders and police were dispatched to the scene following reports of an assault.Get today's headlines by email The Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Pattaya Rescue Centre received the call at approximately 00:35. Volunteers and officers from Pattaya City Police Station arrived to find a British man aged around 50–60, who was not named by authorities and was identified as the bar’s manager, suffering from a severe facial wound caused by a sharp object. The injury stretched more than 10 centimetres across his face and required around 20 stitches.Rescue workers provided first aid at the scene before transporting the injured man to hospital, where he remains under close medical supervision. The attack reportedly occurred inside the manager’s office within the beer bar. One suspect was detained by members of the public before police arrived, while another managed to flee.Staff at the bar told authorities that the British manager regularly received visits from friends, so they initially did not suspect anything unusual, when two other Brits went into his office. However, employees later noticed the door to the office shaking and saw shadows and movement, suggesting a struggle inside the room. Moments later, one of the alleged attackers ran from the office and escaped the premises.Another suspect was restrained by bystanders and later handed over to police for questioning. Authorities have not yet confirmed the motive for the assault. Witnesses said they were unaware of what triggered the violent confrontation.Pictures courtesy of SiamChonPolice have taken the detained suspect to Pattaya City Police Station for further interrogation. Investigators have also deployed a detective team to search the surrounding area for the second suspect who fled the scene. The injured manager continues to receive medical treatment while officers gather evidence and interview witnesses. Police say efforts are ongoing to locate the remaining suspect and determine the circumstances that led to the attack.ScreenRecording_03-08-2026 12-46-50_1.mp4Join the discussion? Already a member? The CCTV footage is probably from the King's Table, which is a beer bar and attracts that clientele. I don't think the bloodied guy in the video is Dave, or I hope it isn't because the guy in the video is wearing a wedding band. A man can recover faster from a slash to the face than he can from a bad marriage.
March 8Mar 8 More dodgy "Benidorm Brits" I would guess, the same sort that got caught after robbing a fellow Brit late last month.

March 8Mar 8 You can take the Brits out if Britain but you can't take Britain out if the Brits.Do they still go out on weekends to get drunk and street fight there?
March 9Mar 9 I think it might be a good idea to start packing some heat before you go to a bar in Pattaya anymore....The bars in Pattaya are becoming very dangerous...

He said a month didn't go by without 2 or 3 "tough guy's" coming into the bar, demanding "insurance" payments. He decided to call it quits when one of the thugs showed him pictures of his house. He had opened the bar just after covid when rents were very low, just for fun, as a place to socialize with friends. Raising rent was part of his decision but the threats sealed the deal. He also noted that almost every night there would be some sort of incident, pushing, sometimes punches thrown. He blames it all on the rapidly increasing use of drugs by expats which didn't seem to be an issue 10+ years ago. He figures with the relaxed pot laws, more younger Brits come here and try to support themselves selling pot, meth and ice which always leads to forming gangs. "Running a bar isn't much fun anymore." he said.

Why did he even let them into the office?

However, they can also be very pleasant places to pass an evening as I have done many times in my 20 years living here, even though I'm a Brit.

Sorry to say but some RTP are part of the action also. I know it as being fact. In 2013 in Pattaya there were small bars and a Thai boxing ring . It was at the pier just before the Walking St entrance. Anyway I became a good friend of the Russian owner whose name was Nutti who is dead now. He was a very big man and afraid of nothing. He owned the "Oil bar in that pier. Apart from other interesting stories about the RTP and the mafia made up of RTP was one story where he said he had to pay a very very significant bribe monthly to the RTP or they would close him down.

I have nothing to do with the bar industry, but even I have heard that. And bar owners probably know the drill when they set up shop. But it's a big difference if anybody and everybody starts to form a gang of thugs and starts demanding payouts. For one thing, the RTP might threaten to shut down your bar, but they won't kill you like random gangs.

That's why the RTP is referred to as the biggest mafia in the world. Plus if Nutti had gangsters that threatened his life he was content knowing the RTP would ensure they were permanently removed wink wink!

They talk up the price not down.

When He and I and a silent partner sat down to go over the financials, I was surprised to see no entry along the likes of "Public Relations" or any other euphemism for under the table payments. "Who takes care of the police?", I asked."Nobody." was the surprising response. Neither he nor any of the other Nana Plaza bar owners he knew had ever been asked for a regular bribe from either the police or local politicians. "Narit", the local cop who's beat was Nana Plaza would stop by from time to time, accept a drink or two, play some pool, flirt with the girls he knew but the only brown envelope he ever got was at Christmas time when everybody from the sweepers to the ice guy got the same. Hard to believe but true.

Hard to believe but true.I don't find it hard to believe at all.All the posters who talk about "brown envelopes" I have always thought very few have first hand knowledge of bribes.A lot of posters want to seem worldly and sophisticated and post as if they know something when all they know is barstool banter.I am not trying to say that there is no corruption or bribes passed in Thailand just that the direct knowledge of it probably doesn't reach the average poster here.
