Thailand’s Cabinet has enacted immediate work-from-home directives for government officials to address an ongoing energy crisis linked to Middle Eastern tensions. During the Cabinet meeting held on March 10, 2026, urgent measures were ratified to curtail energy use and maintain public-sector functions.

The newly approved work-from-home policy mandates all government agencies to operate remotely until stability returns. However, agencies with direct public service roles will continue to function normally, ensuring uninterrupted service to citizens. This initiative aligns with the government's strategy to conserve energy amidst the current crisis.

Additionally, the Cabinet has enforced energy-saving measures within government offices. Officials are encouraged to dress more casually by removing suits during meetings and normal work hours, a change applied during the recent Cabinet session. Furthermore, to cut energy consumption, all government offices are required to maintain air-conditioning at 26 degrees Celsius.

Another important aspect of the Cabinet's strategy is the halt of overseas study trips for government officials. Only missions deemed essential, such as key international meetings, will proceed, subject to stringent review processes. This suspension aims to minimize unnecessary energy expenditures associated with travel.

Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, Surasak Phancharoenworakul, noted that universities are largely unaffected by the work-from-home directive due to the ongoing academic break. The ministry plans to re-evaluate its approach before the next academic term to ensure congruence with government policies, reported The Nation.

Remove suits during meeting? Going sit around in their undies? A sight to behold.

Is there any help for those who cannot work from home?.

Help with what? Anutin his teenager way to run a country with the rest of the teenager politicians? To try and be the victim again as usual, while nothing is even going on? We all know where this goes next, bad economy and bad tourism is fully to blame on the war.

This besides the fact Thailand runs mainly on liquid gas and has plenty of reserves. But hey, we won't tell the peasants that. Let em pay! If only there was a real potential problem around oil/gasoline/diesel, we have way bigger problems to prepare for.

This while oil is the second most available resource after water, in the world. All this to keep the failed petro dollar alive. Science even suggests that oil is reproduced infinite. This makes the entire eco sustainability stuff a joke too, it was started by the biggest owners in this business.

Anyway, Thailand is cooked.

My God man, time to up the dosage on your meds.

The government has identified a problem and moved quickly to mitigate the damages caused by forces beyond their control. Bravo to them. Our governments back home take profits instead of action to provide relief to common people.

Carry this a couple of steps forward and things could get interesting. Ration air conditioning for homes and condos??? Rolling electricity brownouts??? With April and May coming up, I wonder how many foreigners could survive the heat and would elect to just go back home.

You have to be a full retard to even say this, you clearly are entirely clueless how it works here. There isn't any country that is more unequal in wealth than Thailand. Same for power play and abuse. You seem also clueless to know what they did or why they did what.

This also has zero to do with denying real problems, not addressing problems and acting like a full on teenager. That comes on top of it. Our government tae home profits instead of action provide relief, lmao, at 600 baht social pensions with 20 families owning all.

A Thai gets a better pension for life by just living one year in the west. There has been literally zero progress on anything for 10-15 years straight. The only thing they changed is getting everyone hooked to debts by iphone, car and house or condo.

Perhaps stop comparing the west with usa too. The fact usa is mostly a failed state doesn't mean Europe is. We have great social systems, great healthcare, great education and infinite jobs and equal chances and rights. Maybe stop watching too much social media.

Which is why the government takes these steps. Turn the screws another turn and there'd be an uprising. We saw that back in the Red Shirt days. I was caught in one of those demonstrations and the fact that bloodshed was avoided was nothing short of a miracle. Turn the screw too hard and the people here will explode. It's a homogeneous populace with a long history (Thai rak Thai is real). Western countries are so ethnically muddied that we'll always be at each other's throats and the man can turn the screw as tight as he wants to without fear of a revolution.
