Dear Folks, 

As we all know, most trees in the city, or the suburbs, get pruned.

Most seem to survive this cutting.

However, some never recover.

At this time, I am worried about my favorite tree which has been growing near my property for some time, and which has provided me with welcome shade from the sun, during the Hot Seasons.

I have no idea concerning the botanical name for this species of tree.

I just know that it once was beautiful.

My hope is that it will re-grow into its former self/glory.

How long might this take to have it grow fruit, for example, after having been pruned so…?

My neighbors sometimes (probably) wish to criticize me for being most unwilling to cut the trees, shrubs, and grass around my house.  But, really, why should I?

Is it not true that the shrubs and trees, and grass, were here before we even crawled, dripping, out of the sea, onto this land?

I love the symmetry and asymmetry of Nature.

I am speaking, for example, of the appreciation of Fractals so evident in even the leaves, both on the trees, and those which have fallen from trees.

So, would you say this tree has any hope?

And, even if it does or does not, there are other trees that I hope will live, and not be completely cut down, a tragedy which seems to be taking place in and round cities, at an increasingly alarming rate.

What we need is to have a tree-replanting campaign, and let our neighbors know that trees can reduce CO2 emissions, just through reducing heat-island impact, and for other proven reasons, as well.

Will this tree re-grow, sprout buds and leaves, and bear fruit, after what seems to have been a major pruning?  I do hope so.

What is the name of this tree, anyway?

Important Note; Back in the day, when I was growing up, we benefitted from a lush environment full of Oaks and Sycamore trees, and many more. I was lucky to grow up in America. The UK, as we know, long-ago cut down most of their trees. I just hope this terrible trend will not continue.

Joni Mitchel sang about this important Topic, too, as you will recall, if you listened to the radio, over 50 years ago.

I once planted a spruce tree when I was 13. It grew to an astounding height. Then, the city came and cut it down.  What a tragedy. And, I could give you the Google Map coordinates so you could see it just prior to its being felled.  A tree tragedy.

It's not a tree , it's a twig , may survive, if you look after it well ,

and may grow to a fine specimen like yourself...
