Been storing some of my last grow for 3 years.

Put it in the fridge in a vacuum pack more than three years back.

Tropical Punch ........

Opened it last night, still green, great smell, a little dry.

Smoked fine!

So there you go, stores a long time in a normal fridge, no need to freeze.

Keeping it in mason jars is just a waste, barely lasts six months.

Double vacuum bagging is probably the best approach, just in case one of the bags gives up the ghost. Also, 220 mil is much better than the standard 190 mil. They cost a bit more, but they are worth it.

I do not really think the fridge or the freezer makes much difference. I keep mine in the freezer because I prefer to save the fridge space for food.

The biggest downside is that the buds get very compressed when vacuum bagging, so they do not stay as nice and fluffy as when they are kept in mason jars with Boost or Boveda humidity control packs. Because of that, if you plan to use it within two to three months, it is still better to keep it in jars.

You usually do not lose much smell or freshness as long as you do not open the jars too often.

You could try putting some of it in Mason jars now with a boost pack. Might restore it so its not as dry.

Good suggestion. I do the same thing when I take some out of the freezer. I usually transfer it to a mason jar with a Boost pack for a few days before grinding it up. I do not normally run into dryness issues, maybe because I double bag, but the buds do decompress a bit once they sit in the jar for a few days.
