British Man Dies in Bangkok After Alleged Drink Spiking

Who would spike someone’s drink with heroin and cocaine, and for what? It does not add up, unless the reporting is wrong about which drugs were involved. Perhaps they were simply using recreationally and accidentally overdosed, and then she claimed her drink was spiked when she got to the hospital to avoid being arrested for Class 1 drug use. My guess is that only cocaine was involved, possibly cut with too much fentanyl, and that could be what killed him. Fentanyl might also show up positive for heroin in a drug test. She may also have worried she could be charged with his death if she admitted they had taken the drugs together, especially if the authorities believed she was the one who gave him the drugs. She probably also did not want his clients, family and friends to know that he was taking drugs and overdosed, hence the spiked drink story.

I think this is much more likely.

I had a friend who went through pretty much exactly this. He bought some coke, took it and about an hour later he was in the ICU in a coma. Fortunately he didn't take too much and had friends with him at the time that acted quickly and got him straight to hospital. They also could treat him quickly as he still had most of the stuff on him and they could analyse it and treat him accordingly. It was found to have small amounts of cocaine but mostly fentanyl, heroin and even some yaba thrown in for good measure. He was in a coma for 15 hours though and was kept in for 4 days just to make sure there was no long lasting affects. He made a full recovery and although this was about 5 years ago, hasn't touched any drugs since.

Fortunately the police weren't interested in taking matters further but then again, he didn't die as in this tragic case.

Is that common? To spike drinks with heroin and cocaine? Never heard of that before.

Another fine ex ample of the upstanding visitors that they are letting in to Thailand. Who are they trying to kidd ? drinks spiked with cocaine and heroin.you only have to look at the total body tatoos and their involvement with music festivals and that tells you that they were right into the drugs. That's their choice so they have to put up with the consequences. I have very little sympathy for them.

Where in bkk were they drinking? What bar or establishment?

I am inclined to think that the drink spike excuse was used to get more go fund me donations from people who felt sorry for them.

quite likely the bar will have cameras to check - but the fentanyl theory -sounds plausible.Trajedy or murder?

How do so many Brits take off work for such a long time - 6 weeks! Do thirty-something year old Brits have careers that allow them to take off for so long??

Seems strange her "spiked" drink took effect same night and his didn't kick in until much later

Maybe used to some drugs ? One will never know.

Save up your holidays or quit your job.

He was a co-founder of his own company, not bounded by the normal holiday limitations.

The deceased was a "life coach" and yoga instructor as well as a party organizer.

It reminds me of the Vegas mobsters who would get arrested and declare themselves as restaurant owners.

Odd thing to spike drinks with .

Who goes around putting expensive drugs into drinks and are they trying to say someone put the heroin in the drink , then the cocaine and nobody noticed this happening . Or saying someone had a bag of both drugs mixed together which would be strange.

One dose too many....☠️

I guess the Phardy ist over ...

Moms will believe anything. Sorry for her loss. But I suspect they may have overdone the partying thing a bit. I'd be less surprised if the drugs they bought/used where tainted and that was the result of the deaths.

This never happens here. People are saying they are both junkies, shame on them to lie and make Thailand look bad.

I don't believe the spiked drinks story

They were out partying she took something and fell ill, he dumped her at a hospital left and continued with his night out, also took something returned to hotel and died (nobody around to save him)

Lesson - don't take drugs bought off the street in a foreign country from strangers, in fact don't take drugs period.

Tragic

RIP

I agree with others.

It doesn't add up.

What is the motive to spike someones drinks. The bar and staff would be easily found and hopefully brought to justice.

What benefit would it bring to a bar or person. I'm assuming the person spiking the drink doesn't know the British couple and would have little motive. This news scares away business for a short time.

The symptoms are of methanol poisoning.

Same as all those tourists dying in Laos.

Laos methanol poisoning: Fines over backpacker deaths 'a...

Ten people linked to six deaths at a hostel in Laos are given suspended sentences and fines.

So not deliberate, but a consequence of being provided with poorly distilled fake alcoholic drinks.

I was withholding stating it explicitly because many people already think I'm an ahole, but .... to play devil's advocate I am thinking maybe they took the drugs willingly, and the spiked drink theory is false.

Not trying to be disrespectful to the victims, but if I was an investigator on the case, I would consider that possibility.

Well you may be closer to fact than fiction. Not sure how 2 people can have spiked drinks together that takes effect quickly only on one who is taken to the hospital by the second who then mysteriously falls ill and dies quite a long time later. Doesnt add up to spiked drinks so something isn't matching up in the story.

They obviously had a drug problem. Take note below post. Smart dopers don't buy from strangers, especially today, with all the fentanyl spiked drugs.

Doesn't make TH look bad, just the idiots that come here & OD. Can't go 6 week without buying & taking illegal drugs, in a country with strict drug laws, then YES, you have a drug problem.

Uncommon common sense with all dopers, know your supply. Only positive, maybe she'll see the light in rehab, though doubtful.

Poor Thailand 😔

No accountability, She's blaming Thailand for their bad behaviour.

Pathetic

Oh well, I'm sure the Wokes here will believe her story.

So very sad. May he rest in peace.

I hope they catch the evil prick who did this.

This country have CCTV all over the place, so if someone did spike their drinks, there is a good chance it is recorded.

Thanks for your warning but you are off topic.

According to his mother Heather, the pair had reportedly had their drinks spiked with a combination of cocaine and heroine.

How could their mother in the UK possibly know that.

That's an understatement.

If it was an opioid at all it was likely fentanyl. I'm no expert but it seems to me you'd need an awfully high dose of heroin to kill you by drinking it. I think she may have thought it to be coke and heroin, but likely something else. Let the toxicologist do their work and we'll see.

Damn, that was some good sh!t, let me try that again cheesy

At least they did a Thai bbq, and no 'go fund my stupidity' to ship body home.

That's one way to get you in 'rehab' 🙄

Wow. Have some respect. Whatever happened…what is the matter with you? Obnoxious.

"Woke" here. No, I don't believe the story. And I doubt any other "woke" is going to take this at face value without question. The facts have yet to be revealed, other than that they OD'd on something. As is usual, this story is premature as are most of the comments and opinions here. Anything else you want to blame your "wokes" for? Like everything you think is wrong with the world? Maybe you could develop some simple compassion and humanity before it's too late. These are people who died, and it's a tragedy. People are suffering and in pain as a result. Do you take pleasure in human suffering? Yeah, you do if it's one of your "woke" enemies. I imagine you'd find it too disruptive to your life and your mind to have to acknowledge that everyone has the right to their humanity and point of view without being judged by cranks like yourself.
