One opinion from one analyst in an intelligence service that is leaked is not a definitive assessment. Mossad is not some perfect agency with magical all knowing, all seeing powers. Like other intelligence agencies it has its shares of incompetents, political appointees, idiots and people who make errors. Shinbet and Mossad weren't very effective on October 7 were they?

I expect that there are other assessments from other analysts who have a different position.

Shinbet and Mossad weren't very effective on October 7 were they?

With that sentence , you loose all credibility on the matter.

What an idiotic answer!

Since that seems to be your best possible standard of answering please don't waste time with another answer!

You expect? That's the best you can do? Expect? I think Israels's extraordinary intelligence penetration of the Iranian government including its military has been well demonstrated.

But here's a few items re: US intelligence:

This one from 2007

US spies give shock verdict on Iran threat

Intelligence agencies say Tehran halted weapons programme in 2003

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2007/dec/04/politics.topstories3

Here's a recent one:

Trump is not interested in listening to US experts on Iran’s nuclear program

what were the findings of the 2011 national intelligence assessment re irans nuclear weapon capability

There's plenty more as well. What have you got to offer?

The USA (and EU) downplayed the nuclear threat from Iran, because its neighbors were concerned and said that they too would pursue their own nuclear weapons. This isn't a secret. You know it too.

You want "evidence" of sentiment in the Arab world and their concerns? Here's a nice summary with references to the speeches made by Arab leaders. https://www.nti.org/analysis/articles/arab-response-irans-nuclear-program/. It speaks to the arrogance of westerners that they ignored the cautions offered by the Arab leaders.

Saudi Foreign Minister Saud al-Faisal criticized Iran's uranium enrichment program during a speech in Washington D.C. highlighting the possibility that the enriched uranium fuel could be used for nuclear weapons. He asked, "Where is Iran going to use these weapons? If their intention is to bomb Israel, they will kill Palestinians, Syrians, Jordanians, and Saudis, as well.

"Saudi Ambassador Decries Iran Nuke Program," Associated Press, 8 February 2006.

He was right 20 years ago, and is still accurate in that assessment today.

Sure. Coming from one of the resident bigots, I am not too worried. October 7 is considered of Israel's greatest intelligence failures and will sit alongside the 1973 Yom Kippur war when Israel was attacked and nearly destroyed because of similar intelligence lapses. If shinbet and Mossad had been as effective as they they are imagined to be, October 7 would have been avoided. They failed, bigtime, as did the military and border police.

The Saudis and other Sunni Arab nations were the Iranians'arch-enemies. What would you expect the Saudi foreign minister to say? Netanyahu said the same kind of stuff and worse. But his intelligence service contradicted him. Have you got access to Saudi intelligence that supported the Saudi claim?

Asking a serious question and expecting a serious answer? On this forum?

Seriously?

they're no fools, and they've had years to prepare, why do you think previous presidents backed off from direct confrontation?

I'm no fan of Iran but I do believe in national sovereignty and self-determination.

The US did this in Korea and Vietnam to what end. Iraq, Afghanistan, Grenada, Nicaragua, Panama, Venezuela.

Personally, I hope he TACOs and leave his ally to duke it out.

Trump has TACO'd, but I reckon it is only to let the Israelis continue bombing for another five days to try and soften Iran up before his marines arrive.

Also. I reckon all this "I will bomb" , "I won't bomb" is just to move the markets so his insider trading cronies can make big bets on the markets. Even his son Barron made millions doing just that a few weeks ago.

They're all as bad as one another.
