Came across this interesting highlighting of HISTORICAL FACTS on IRAN and Churchill. What crimes people have committed, risen to fame and was never reprimanded!

I love Monbiot always worth a listen/read. IIran has been raped by colonial powers for many decades. Iran was attacked illegally by US/Isreal and as such like any other country on earth has the right of self defence.

The time has come for the UK to step forward and offer reparations to Iran, acknowledging historical injustices and fostering a pathway toward reconciliation.

I would like US/Israel to lead that charge but I won't hold my breath.....Mossaddegh could have neem Iran's reformer par excellence like Turkey's Attaturk but Anglo perfidy put an end to that.

I see that you might be from the UK and are avoiding a discussion on the historical realities of colonization, which have deep ties to white supremacy. I can understand your perspective, considering your MAGA stance.

It's important for you to reconsider your support for white supremacy.

Why the UK and not the USA?

And all because the US and UK were upset that he decided to nationalize a minority of the country's oil to make it afordable for his country's population. It's not just Mosaddegh that the US conspired to overthrow, it's also Chile's Salvador Allende and others like them - progressive even liberal modernists. But the two hedgemonds at the time had them overthrown for their own petty monetary missives that would serve to enrich their own corporate oligarchs with little if any gain for US or UK populations as a whole. So little changes decades later. The 'leaders' of the western world don't represent the interests of their populace. It's a charade - a carnival trick - to make them think they're interests are represented. They're not. Trump really stands out in that case, doesn't he.

People so quickly forget history and it's likely the vast majority never study it to begin with. Certainly guns like Trump have never picked up a history book and he's likely never even read a briefing on the history of the region.

Britain was raping Iran for 20 years prior to the US installing the Shah. The deal that they had with Persian oil was absolute abomination and the total humiliation to the people and the nation. The PM at the time in the early fifties decided enough was enough, and wanted to nationalize the oil industry, and that's all it took for the US to intervene.

  • (1953) US-backed coup and reinstallation of the shah: Tensions initially began brewing over the democratically elected Iranian Prime Minister Mohammad Mosaddegh’s efforts to nationalise the Anglo-Iranian Oil Company (now BP). The British colonial power controlled the majority stake in the joint-venture company since oil was discovered in the early 1900s. Mosaddegh’s moves to nationalise the company after his 1951 election angered the British. The US’s Central Intelligence Agency supported the United Kingdom in engineering a coup and backing once-deposed monarch, Pahlavi, back into power as shah.

  • (1957) Atoms for Peace: The shah’s ambitions for a nuclear-powered Iran gained support from the US and other Western allies. Both countries signed a nuclear agreement for the civilian use of nuclear power as part of then-US President Dwight D Eisenhower’s Atoms for Peace programme. A decade later, the US provided Iran with a nuclear reactor and uranium to fuel it. The nuclear collaboration forms the basis for the current nuclear question.

So we actually supported Iran's development of nuclear power which of course has led to their development of nuclear weapons. This 5,000-year-old civilization has been shaken down countless times by countless nations, and they are accustomed to making sacrifices. They're not going to give up easily. Americans on the other hand are incredibly soft people, and we will not make personal sacrifices to justify this war. That is why the Iran strategy has hurt Trump and the US so much. They are very unpredictable and the two dummies thought they had it all figured out.

I'm bored so like to get to your definition of socialism.

In Australia we have some free stuff - healthcare and other govt services can be provided to some but otherwise it's pretty much capitalism. Taxes are a bit higher. Freedom of the press. Some issues with freedom from time to time but pretty free.

Democrats in America tend economically to be a bit to the right in terms of less services and lower taxes.

Then you have your old style Cuba or Soviet Union where at times it was doctors paid the same as cleaners and industry controlled by government.

When you talk about socialists spewing or screeching what do you have in mind i.e. what is the context - you may have stated this previously.

By the way as an aside do you really have dreadlocks or was that a joke - I tend to think we would have a different view of posters if we saw them in actuality.

I'm impressed, someone actually knows the history. Did you know it previously, or just recently been enlightened.

I posted about it weeks ago, and surprised most my age are ignorant to the fact, especially Brits, of the Anglo Persian oil / BP, and regime changes. Since we did live through the 70's fake oil crisis and regime changes.
