OPs "Thai partner" should be able to do submissions at immigration office or coordinating on his behalf with an agent.

  • My friend ( now deceased) used an agent for his retirement extension he did not have to leave his chair at home..the agent came to him took photos and did everything else for him.

  • If you are on a retirement extension please turn over the form and read: 1. ผู้ขอจะต้องยื่นคาขออนุญาตด้วยตนเอง APPLICANT MUST SUBMIT THE APPLICATION IN PERSON เว้นแต่ ผู้ป่วยหรือผู้พิการที่ไม่สามารถม

  • Are you on retirement or marriage extension ? an 'agent' might be able to smooth things over for you for a fee of course.

Outline how "Thai partner" would even be able to cover the banking requirements such as bank letter, bank statement etc

Let alone sign the required docs at immigration.

Power of attorney as a co signature to the account.

I used to sign the document copies of disabled expats as a proxy, with PP before my signature.

In View Talay 2A I was shocked to see two immigration offcials in the lift with me - I joked "mee benha mai" (is their a problem) and they laughed and one said in good English now we are just visiting our clients. They then took a photo with me in reception. I got the imnpression that for the right money they will do a bespoke business. Maybe others could confirm. Good luck in finding a solution.

I asked bank about that and they said NO.

Perhaps was down to that particular staff.

I however have asked twice at different Kasikorn banks.

I also have inquired as to co- signatory on my account for my Thai partner and they stated NO. You need to be married.

Again perhaps staff taking path of least resistance

They did well to understand "mee benha mai"

The cost of help is not an issue for me but how can an agent assist? I must appear in person; that is a cast-iron rule.

Not if you use an agent

Refer to Liquorice answer.

I did and replied with my experience.

Both banks no way hosay.

Adding name as a signatory possible if married. No possible for my 15yr partner.

In my case it's mobility. When I recover (hopefully) from fractured vertebrae, I plan to meet with agent and do a report on options that some find of interest.

I have never felt okay with handing over my passport to civilians.

Hope you find an easier way. Regarding handing over passports from everything from Big C to banks, I hate it too. They are not gentle with the PP and they have no understanding what a damaged passport can mean to us. I was renewing my DL and the document processing girl stuffed papers into from page of my PP and folded the biopage in half on an angle. I think it's ok. Hope..

They are also probably not aware that the passport does not belong to you. It belongs to the government of issue.

I don't give my passport to anyone (except Immigration/visa agents)

Years ago I was told by a bike rent company in Sihanoukville that I had to deposit my passport. I told them it wasn't my passport, it belonged to the British government who don't allow me to give it to anyone else.

(we compromised in the end and as my hotel was next door, they agreed to hold it in their safe).

try TVS visa services near sportmans lodge soi 13 in pattaya

This is the best I got!

I've been caring for a family friend for a year now! He has lots of medical problems, drug issue, and mostly just stupid!🤣

But last year I went to Maneerat, in Pattaya of 13/2, After talking to them about my friend situation proceeded to do some of the items suggested just before the <deleted> hit the fan with Bangkok Bank.

His situation is day by day I have two caregivers helping daily. We ended up early 2025 opening a bank account with BB at Central Festival, we had planned to use Maneerat money to obtain the bank letter then when the <deleted> hit the fan, I contacted his family and they wired a million into his account in July. Since the money wasn't seasoned now what! they said no worry.

Basically, if one uses their money the extension was going to be 12-13,000 baht. if you use your own money obtain the letter it wasf 7,500 baht. Since the money wasn't season they still said no problem we can do it but not at 7,500 but the full amount. No problem money no object?

Tough part getting him into a wheelchair and taking him to Central, I had his Power of attorney but didn't think much of it, I hired a big van, got him to BB when it opened because we didn't season the money they said you can have your letter but we need to lock it for 4 months. No problem!

Got the letter, took it Maneerat, they took the passport, payment, letter, gave them a photo and they did everything else. Gave me a receipt told to go Immigration right now and see Mr. Football. we got there in the Van, double parked a bit, I and caregiver ran in, at door we were stopped by a tall young man, The caregiver Thai spoke need to see Mr. Football show him the receipt and he noted he was Mr. Football. The caregiver said a few more words the guy walked out to the Soi where we were parked and took a picture of my friend. I tipped him 500 baht two days later I got his passport back and extension.

Now I do everything there 90 days, residential, TM30, anything that he requires that was the best I could do! As Dr. noted he will get worse like all of us, got to put the thinking hat on!

Good luck!

Help from Thailand immigration, you're having a Laugh 🤣😂🤣

We all could have to face this situation soon. As far as I know, there is a provision for a third party to submit your application, but I believe that you need a doctors letter.

If you check on the application form it actually states that the applicant needs to attend in person, UNLESS MEDICAL REASONS.

Maybe you can try going down this route, or as suggested, use an agent. In all the years I have been here, I have never seen any sort of sympathy from immigration, we are however talking about the absolute worst immigration office in the history of life on earth, Chiang Mai. I have even seen some old foreigners over the years getting wheeled in on a gurney with an oxygen bottle, so not sure how sympathetic you might find them - Good Luck though!

My agent is handled everything for me for the past eight or nine years I never stepped into immigration in Jomtien

About 15 years ago I asked an immigration lady what I could do if I could could not make it to immigration. She told Stop just stop coming No one's gonna be looking for you That made sense to me. This was at Bangkok immigration.

So immigrant advised you to just go into overstay.

At least you thought it made no sense.

Her advice was ridiculous joke.

A rough plan is shaping up.

Hire a handicap van w/ two attendants, do everything myself.

  • Anyone got contact info for a van service?

  • Anyone know if Jomtien will accept a letter AND book update from the previous day?

You still haven't mentioned if you are applying for a retirement or marriage extension.

Almost no immigration office will accept a bank book update from the previous day. Bank letter yes, book update no.

I used to feel the same (all those years ago) when doing 90 day visa runs to Cambodia..the agent/driver would collect all the passports then a set of 'minions' did all the paperwork and disappeared for a while it was a bit disconcerting but there was never any problems and actually far less stressful than doing it all myself..once was enough for that palaver !

The olden days...can barely get past 2 visa-exempts now in a year for those between longer visas..crackdown happened day before I came in so I never bothered with METV while back home. Got to figure out a longer-stay option asap. PITA.

Depending on how long you wish to stay you could take a mini holiday and use safe entry services to reenter Thailand visa exempt or even obtain an SETV eVisa.

Would give another 90 days with extension.

Back on topic, has anyone had experience of the following agent, whom a fortuitous Google search on my part has revealed?

https://thailand-visa-help.com/

At first glance, the big plus from my viewpoint is that she is the only agent I've so far managed to trace who appears to deal with my local immigration office, Rayong. Whilst, in contrast to the OP, I would have no concerns in principle with handing over my passport to an agent at annual extension of stay time, I would, however, have major concerns with any agent who insisted on seeking future retirement extensions on my behalf at CW or Jomtien instead of Rayong.

I should make it clear that, in common with the OP, it is purely on mobility grounds that I would need an agent's assistace. I have no desire to evade at any time the ฿400k/฿800k bank balance requirement for retirement extensions.

I have no first hand knowledge however checked out the link you posted. Seems the real deal and unlike most agents in Pattaya she does not cover the financials.

As I plan to use agent just because of mobility and plan to continue with Income Method she would seem to be good fit.

Bank letters are already ok if from the day before as far as I've experienced, at least in Bangkok.

This thread is about renewal at Jomtien...which now requires same day Bank details.

I suspect that the point which @marin was making is that you can't blame Thai immigration procedures for the fact that you have to make trips to Bangkok every 5 years for a new passport, as you appeared to imply in your previous post. Instead the blame for this totally unsatisfactory situation lies fairly and squarely with the incompetent idiots in your home country's government who are responsible for inflicting such cumbersomely ridiculous passport renewal procedures on you and your fellow countrymen who live in Thailand - all the more so in the case of those with severe mobility issues.

I don't know the OP's nationality, but I just renewed my Aussie passport online, a trip to BKK wasn't necessary.

I highly recommend this outfit. If there is a way to handle your renewal without you appearing in person, they will find a way at a very reasonable rate. I live in Chanthaburi but they handle my renewal completely by mail. The 90 day I can do online. And don't be fooled by the UK reference displayed on the initial page, they do US (and I imagine other countries) as well.
