Shopee must not want customers

The reason you get captchas is because of a network setting that thinks you are a bot. You have some network setting like a VPN or something wrong in your phone’s network settings that is causing it.

But I don't. I'm using the line from my ISP - no VPN. I checked my User Agent. All's good. And this is on my desktop, not my phone.

Shopee app is great, much cheaper and better than Lazada, move with the times and use the app

I have been using SHOPEE alongside LAZADA for many years and have never had any problems. If there are problems, they could well be the user's fault and less the fault of SHOPEE!

Try a different browser.

And it could be that you are behind their NAT router which causes you to be constantly having your IP address rotate from a pool of addresses that are accessing Shopee. Each time it sees that IP address connect it queries what OS and browser are connecting.

Call your ISP and tell them you don’t want to be behind their NAT router as it messes with IP cameras you have (you just use this as your reason, you don’t really need to have cameras) and possibly you will stop getting the Captchas.

Also check if your router has IPv6 enabled

I've used Lazada for several years now and I've never had any problems. In saying that the Lazada service in Pattaya at my condo is much better than it is where I mostly live in Bangkok. Probably it's because the Pattaya delivery man is a much better communicator via his phone calls.

I however do notice that the delivery people who come with a Shopee order, are more helpful with the orders, then when they come with a Lazada order. Maybe shopee pays the delivery chaps more ?

That's another issue. I only order COD from Shopee as too often the delivery guy will just toss the package over the fence instead of calling me and delivering it. So now only COD - they have to interact with me.

If you used the app, the delivery person messages to say the delivery is arriving, arrives and photo, no need to talk to them, works for me and millions of others

But he can switch to Thailand, download the app and then switch back to his previous region. No problem at all.

Why does an 82-year-old have to give such advice?

First of all, Who's 82? Secondly if you change Play Store location there is a waiting period to change back which was my personal experience a number of years ago. Google search still says there is a 1 year waiting period but on person notified me that has been changed to 90 days.

Used Lazada and Shopee for years on my iPhone with zero issues, Shopee is cheaper but Lazada often has free delivery.

Pay with TrueMoney on Lazada but Shopee won’t let me do that so use COD.

Set location as Thailand as using your home country will not allow you to use some apps, for example have lost use of my BBC News app …. but thats okay as theres enough doom and gloom on here to keep me depressed 😀

You can use 2 different Google accounts with different locations within Google Playstore and switch between them to download apps of different countries.

Yes, I do that for some apps. Just have to remember to change back to the appropriate Play Store/use VPN when using specific apps.

Every time I log into Shopee now, I get hit with a "Challenge Puzzle" The only problem being that even though I solve it, it won't accept the answers.
I can get to it using my Samsung Galaxy, but its becoming next to impossible using a desktop. And god help you if you're color-blind. I'm not but the puzzles blend a figure into a colorful background and its difficult to even make out the figures

That's a good way to lose customers.

It's a garbage site, compared to Amazon.

That may be in some cases but just remember that Amazon limits what items it will send to Thailand. That includes AmazonGlobal!

82? That's me. And the 'waiting period', what is it? Is this a new Android invention? No, it can't be, you're reporting from a few years ago. I've been using Android since the beginning and always change my location when necessary. Without any waiting time. Most of the time, however, I only change my IP via a VPN,

A VPN will not change your location to downloading apps from Play Store. Play Store location has to be changed within the Google account settings and when that location is changed you have to wait 1 year to change back or to a different location. It's been like that for many years and as of 15 minutes ago when I checked. VPN, as you stated, only changes your IP location and it does not give you apps from the location you set the VPN to. ONLY Google Play Store will allow you to access apps that are location sensitive. One work around is to have 2 Google accounts located in different places and switch back and forth which will also require account information for both places. Personally, I got tired of switching back and forth, so I acquired an old iPhone and left the App Store in the preferred location. I only use the iPhone as a platform (not for calls or anything else).

Switching to another Google account takes 30 seconds, not exactly onerous. I do it once or twice a year

I assume that the above drivel means that you agree with my post!

Is so why can you not just respond with a simple "Yes you are correct" rather than your usual pointless unreadable gobbledygook!

I agree with you if it's only a couple/few times a year but I found myself needing do a few times a month. The iPhone was free (iPhone X) from a friend who was going to toss it and after I tried it, I decided that was easy enough and that was almost 3 years ago.

You only need to switch to Thailand when you install, I think i did Shopee, driving licence maybe immigration that's it, you don't need to go back and forth

I since complained to the (Chinese) vendor via chat that I don't do QR so he should change to CoD.

His response was an immediate change to Visa etc.

Not quite what I wanted but good enough.

That's been changed to 90 days and also now requires you to have a payment method set, which I don't recall from before.

Thanks for this - I wasn't aware of the change to 90 days. I'm pretty sure the requirement for a local payment method in the chosen region has been in place for a while, though - maybe to prove that you really live there, and aren't just venue shopping? 🤔

True but I have banking apps that won't work if my Play Store is located in Thailand. I always consider financials a moving target especially if you have financial assets outside of Thailand. I've had to make changes over the years and one thing I've learned is "what is working today may not work tomorrow". I try to keep as many backups as possible.

When I try to download the Shopee app it just says "This item is not available in your country". Stuck with using it on a laptop.

If on Android, just create another Google account located in Thailand!

No such problems for my French banks' app (4 banks)

This is what I did

I don't even need to switch accounts for updates once the app is downloaded

again easily fixed, install from thai play store then move back to your home country play store, so easy. I don't have problems only you for some reason

Another annoying site is Outlook.live.com email with its stupid 2 factor authentication which you can't turn off.

Different banks, different countries, different problems. Thank you for confirming that everybody's financial situation/access is different.

I didn't say I have a problem. I have complete and easy access to my accounts. I simply chose to use the method I described which has been working for many years and I find it easier than switching back and forth. I also find it safer because if I forget to switch accounts, I run the risk of getting locked out.

I recently tried to buy an inexpensive tablet using both Shopee and lazada. I wanted to buy a Xiaomi SE model. Of course, I went for the lowest advertised price. Six separate orders, six counterfeits. Finally gave up. Fortunately, the return process is simple as they will pick the item up and the money credited to my debit card within a few days.

Lazada always prompt on the designated pick-up day, Shopee never on the designated day, always 2 to 5 days later.

I'm aware that I could buy from a Lazada shop designated LAZMALL with a guarantee of genuine goods but prices are more than I wanted to pay.
