Life in the Holy Land

Israeli police blocked the Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem, from entering the Church of the Holy Sepulchre on Palm Sunday, March 29, 2026, forcing him to turn back and disrupting traditional celebrations.

The incident, described as unprecedented, was justified by police citing security concerns and wartime restrictions on gatherings. Church leaders, including Pope Leo, described this describes this as a "grave precedent" and an "extreme departure" from freedom of worship. as the first time in centuries that senior Christian clergy were prevented from accessing Christianity’s holiest site during Holy Week.

The Patriarch, Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa, had been scheduled to lead Palm Sunday prayers at the church, traditionally believed to be the site of Jesus' crucifixion and resurrection.

The Latin Patriarchate stated that the Patriarch and the Custos of the Holy Land, Fr. Francesco Ielpo, were stopped while traveling privately, without any procession or ceremony, and were denied entry.

Israeli authorities claimed the restrictions were due to security concerns linked to regional tensions, but the move triggered international criticism and diplomatic pressure, forcing Israeli officials to later reverse the decision and allow access.

The incident has also drawn criticism even from pro-Israel figures, with prominent Zionist and former US official Mike Huckabee reportedly describing the decision as an “overreach.”

The controversy comes amid wider restrictions imposed by Israeli authorities on religious worship in Jerusalem, including limitations on Muslim access to Al-Aqsa Mosque during Ramadan and increased checkpoints and entry restrictions into the Old City.

Critics argue the pattern reflects growing control over religious access in Jerusalem, affecting Muslims and Christians alike, and raising concerns about freedom of worship in one of the world’s most religiously significant cities.

An agreement was reached with police to allow limited access to the church for Easter celebrations.

Hard to imagine what God must be thinking looking down on all of this............Israel, Gaza, Iran, the Gulf States.........

Religions were, without doubt, Satan's masterstroke.

OMG....you are going to hell.....oh, wait......does that mean there's no hell either?

So we can all just do exactly what we want?

I think to refer to Israel as the holy land at this point is simply to refer to some sort of historical precedent. All the holiness has been removed by the genocidal leaders and the extremists in Israel.

Any greatness or holiness that once existed is barely a memory.

The leaders are wholly ridiculous, wholly over the top, wholly extremist, wholly genocidal, wholly morally bankrupt, and wholly without a spiritual mission. All the lessons of the past have been forgotten.

And the nimwit is following Israel hook, line and sinker into oblivion.
