And as the Cold Chisel song goes ..."Baby that was years ago....I left it all behind ...for that ...cheap wine and a three day growth..

I bet no one outside Australia knows the Australian 1980's music

You mean besides Cold Chisel, Icehouse, The Angels Little River band, AC-DC, INXS, The Radiators, Jimmy Barnes, and Rose Tattoo? Just off top of my head but there are more I have in my collection.

I believe Fabulous radio wound up last year. Howard left TH for the UK over 12 years ago. So the station owners story got mixed up or he was telling porkies. IMO guys shouldn't be wrongly mentioned in

The planes are still running and Barnes is a bad version of ACDC.

Do try the small sois Sigmund.

Just as good as they were 20 years ago.

Likely most bars have changed hands a dozen times.

But good still for the customers.🙃🙃

Not so sure.

I used to love Sois Post Office and Yamoto in the afternoons, so in 2025 I walked up one and down the other.

Apart from one bar (Blue Bear, or Blue Boar??) all the afternoon sleaze (which i love) has gone.

Even the GoGo bar that had the mirror with all the signatures on it (including mine) is no more - it's now a McPoison burger shop. 😡

The only bar I miss is Lolita's on Soi bumpy road.

Enjoy while we can as soon it will be all American or UK junk food outlets, that will fully take over.

Just see how the newer generations in Thailand are no longer those slim frame bodies they used to have. The good point however is that the young ladies are becomming more and more busty😜

As the plastic clinics become more profitable.

You probably need to check out some Gentleman's Clubs - some of them make Lolita's look very tame.

I always love the "where are they now ? stories

I was looking through old photos this morning of a few years ago as I spotted one where I was sitting at the Murphy bar in Soi Bukhao/ LK years ago

It has the motto "never goin home " in the background, beautiful Irish green bar

Now I must admit I had forgotten all about it

What happened to it ?

May I ask also the Chinese restaurants , we used to have the Jolly Friar , and another one I can't recall but remember it had rather a "racist " name ?

Oh how things quickly change ,names change, people die off , people leave and the landscape leaves with it , it's actually quite fascinating and interesting to see the change

I always was "interested" on watching the Pattaya news channel tv reporters and I must be going back to the late 2000's and I was obsessed with one man who used to report that was covered in tattoos from the UK , never saw him maybe after 2010 , I was a big fan of his

Oh how Pattaya has changed

I also loved Howard the policeman

Oh where are they now ?.

And I refer to the cold chisel song

Oh baby that was years ago , cheap wine and a three day growth has changed it

I had a friend I heard she died, on a needle she was crucified,oh baby that was years ago ,

I do wonder what that song was about, a beautiful band cold chisel

Hurray! You almost managed to make a Gamma! What in the world is all this drivel about? You think Thailand has a poor selection of restaurants and bars?

Nobody could be that bad but I admit he is at least as "trying"!

They are not small sois.

They are/were Beach Rd & Walking Street feeders.

Agreed.

Good in their day.

Reset your compass to the sois between 2nd & 3rd roads in Pattaya.🙃🙃

Such as?

Bukhau is between 2nd & 3rd roads so i'm not sure where you mean

Bukhao runs roughly parallel to 2nd & 3rd Rds.

Walk down either of those 2 large roads & turn left or right & you will find some small sois.

Also try the Darkside.

Hell, just stop visiting grampa places.🙃🙃

Yeah, I know. But it´s amazing what some can achieve with just a little bit of trainig. I assume it´s what they call talent. 🤣

Are you suggesting that it has had any training?

No Sir, just assuming that it might be possible 😂

Just exercise due caution and not get some nasty STD when playing around with the bargirls.

Probably the "Chinky" on Chiyaphum, opposite Canterbury Tales. Next door was a great place where I'd get a 300g. pork chop for B150. Also, across the street, the original "Triangle Bar", basically a few random boards loosely held together but dead cheap beer. Ahh, those days.

Possibly listening to Greg here............https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TXt-XwHywOY&t=1s

Thar was probably the Chow Soy, but I do seem to remember The Village Chippy, and I believe The Village Chinky, the other side of 3rd Road in The Village housing project.

Was that the one on Soi Buakhao close to the old Easy Corner? Always figured it to be a sperate place and different ownership than the Soi Pothole 'Chinky'.

This is Howard you mean?

The former tourist police chief ?

Most if not all the old bars like the old days are gone. As are many of us. FLB long gone, torn down, illegal build if I remember correctly. The original owner sold out. Had or has restaurant over the water behind the beer bar complex just before Walking Street. Don't know what happen to the latter entry of Secrets. Haven't been there in years. The one in PP wasn't looking to good when I was there prior to covid. There was a little bar at corner of Walking Street and I believe Soi Happy, ended at Happy A Go-Go. We used to sit there, eat the very salty peanuts and drink watching the "show" go by before hitting the bars. Little bar owned by a Brit. on the left side as you walked into the beer bar complex just before Walking Street was one of my favorites. As were the ladies. Gone. I couldn't handle the discos, to loud, too crowded for me. But main hangout at night for me and my buddies was the FLB. Had some very good looking and nice ladies, Alice, who finally got rid of the red (?) ID. Bar fined a 'few' out of there. Good time, good folks in general and 43/42 baht to USD with the prices much much lower for everything then. We were the last of the lucky ones. I got here in 2002 and wish it had been 5 years earlier. In fact wish it had been in '67 like planned except the USMC plans often went not as planned.

Life is good with my Lao lady of many years. Agent Orange finally got me, clock was ticking all these years. Damn, we had it good.
