You mean besides Cold Chisel, Icehouse, The Angels Little River band, AC-DC, INXS, The Radiators, Jimmy Barnes, and Rose Tattoo? Just off top of my head but there are more I have in my collection.

With the exception of LRB and Acca Dacca, I've worked with all of the rest, including Mentals, Men at Work, Swannee, Eurogliders, Redgum, Divinyls, JPY, Emmanuelle Brothers, Oils, ONJ, Moving Pictures, Hunters, Split Enz, Icehouse, Johnny Farnham and countless other non record deal bands.

Aussi 70's and 80's music was some of the best music on the planet at the time. Much still holding up today.

I believe Fabulous radio wound up last year. Howard left TH for the UK over 12 years ago. So the station owners story got mixed up or he was telling porkies. IMO guys shouldn't be wrongly mentioned in

And as the Cold Chisel song goes ..."Baby that was years ago....I left it all behind ...for that ...cheap wine and a three day growth.. I bet no one outside Australia knows the Australian 1980's music

The planes are still running and Barnes is a bad version of ACDC.

Jimmy and Cold Chisel, for that matter, never made them selves out to be an AC/DC rip-off/cover band.

Was that the one on Soi Buakhao close to the old Easy Corner? Always figured it to be a sperate place and different ownership than the Soi Pothole 'Chinky'.

No, you might be thinking of Wok 'n' Rok which was further up that way. Ran by Ouy and Richard and you're right, different ownership from Chow Soy which was towards the Buakhao end of Pothole. Streetview pic from 2012.

They are not small sois.

They are/were Beach Rd & Walking Street feeders.

Agreed.

Good in their day.

Reset your compass to the sois between 2nd & 3rd roads in Pattaya.🙃🙃

Yamato was never a Beach Road or Walking St feeder, it was a self-contained drinking area with it's own drinking community.

Not so sure.

I used to love Sois Post Office and Yamoto in the afternoons, so in 2025 I walked up one and down the other.

Apart from one bar (Blue Bear, or Blue Boar??) all the afternoon sleaze (which i love) has gone.

Even the GoGo bar that had the mirror with all the signatures on it (including mine) is no more - it's now a McPoison burger shop. 😡

VBF which were your years in Soi Yamato.? My golden years there are longer ago than I care to admit but your post has me ready for my next visit to Pattaya. But it definitely won't be during Songkran.

Probably (from memory) the 1990s through to about 2010.

If you do visit Pattaya again - start checking out the Gentleman's Clubs and for goodness sake avoid Soi 6! It's definitely not what it was

That's a whole load of information - you obviously haven't been in Patts for a very long time!!!

Don't think I can quote its name here but take a look at another forum (ahem) for people like Pattaya to the point of addiction 😉

Or ask me privately if you can't figure it out.

Or do the following Google search pattaya gentlemens clubs

Enjoy while we can as soon it will be all American or UK junk food outlets, that will fully take over.

Just see how the newer generations in Thailand are no longer those slim frame bodies they used to have. The good point however is that the young ladies are becomming more and more busty😜

Naw Pattaya has gone through the tourism cycle

60- 90 Western primarily US

Then it catered to Chinese

Now because all the indian boys of tailors gave grown up and tourism is primarily indian we are in the indian swing.

Not sure it will ever get back to US I think more chance little OZ but that's doubtful

As to rotten Ronnie's and the colonel they like 7 11 are Thai using the name and menu.

Walked it hundreds of times around 2006-2012.

Usually quiet.

Singlets/tank tops, ratty pants & thongs/flip-flops.

Seemed to me the customers were regulars only.

Never stopped for a beer.

So, yes, it was a feeder.🙃🙃

I was there in Pattaya last month as I am twice a year

Just because you frequent these disgusting places doesn't mean everyone does !!!

Well there were some like that as there are anywhere in Thailand but I also knew one investment (or merchant) banker and one UK plc company director. But as you say (and as I said) there were plenty of regular customers there who were not that often at Soi 6 and Walking St,

Laughing my socks off!! 😂😁😂😁

You asked for information, I provided it and now you post that. I now realise that you probably already knew about GCs and were just goading me. if you didn't, for a regular visitor who has experienced the venues in Soi Yamoto, (and presumably Soi Post Office) you either cannot be that observant or your outlook has changed.....or you're just winding me up. In which case, I bit 🤔😉😁

Yep "GCs" are as outrageous as you like, designed for ADULT fun which is partly what Pattaya is about (and has been for decades) for the many of us who do enjoy them.

And before the Mods get involved, that's my last word on the subject. Enjoy your trips - I certainly do mine 👍

Pete still owns the Pattaya Beer Garden.

I've never been prejudiced in any way, especially regarding good music as it comes from all corners of the world. Screaming jets another band I like from OZ.

India is getting richer and more powerful day by day and soon will have more millionnaires and billionnaires compared to Europe that is totally going to the dogs.

millions of jobs were offshored to India because they were cheap, how long before they go from India to AI, i say not long

Chisel had some good songs like No Sense and Saturday Night. Jimmy solo was a bit to much screaming bogan for my taste.

Hunters and the Models and Go Betweens were good before they got sappy. Saints, Midnight Oil, Split Enz and TISM had songs you could tap your toe to.

Almost. People with jobs can be bogans too. Once a bogan, always a bogan. We have one infamous example on this board.

A bogan is Australian and New Zealand slang term for a person whose speech, clothing, or behaviour is considered unrefined, unsophisticated, or working-class.

I suspect there are still slums beyond Western imagination in all the major cities of India, so many are getting left behind.

...

But main hangout at night for me and my buddies was the FLB. Had some very good looking and nice ladies, Alice, who finally got rid of the red (?) ID. Bar fined a 'few' out of there. Good time, good folks in general and 43/42 baht to USD with the prices much much lower for everything then. We were the last of the lucky ones. I got here in 2002 and wish it had been 5 years earlier. In fact wish it had been in '67 like planned except the USMC plans often went not as planned.

FLB was my favorite bar as well. I can't begin to count how many nights (and baht) I spent in FLB during all the years I visited Pattaya and the nine years I lived there full-time. For me, FLB represented the best of Pattaya's nightlife, a hostess bar with a unique atmosphere the likes of which I never experienced elsewhere.

FLB wasn't an illegal build, but the premises were the object of a 10-year legal battle between two Thai landlords. That meant no one could take over FLB when Martin retired, so the bar faded into Pattaya history.

Alice achieved near legendary status during her many years at FLB. She began in 2005 as a bartender, but became a hostess after several months because her family needed more money. She quickly found a U.S. sponsor and started her multi-year shift as a member of the FLB service staff. After five years, she lost her sponsor and went back to wearing a green badge until FLB closed in 2014.

Last I heard, she is married to a Thai guy, lives in Bangkok and works in a big restaurant.

Don't know what happen to the latter entry of Secrets. Haven't been there in years. The one in PP wasn't looking to good when I was there prior to covid. There was a little bar at corner of Walking Street and I believe Soi Happy, ended at Happy A Go-Go. We used to sit there, eat the very salty peanuts and drink watching the "show" go by before hitting the bars.

Secrets closed in 2019. The premises changed ownership several times and last I heard, housed a gay club. That info could be out of date.

Contrary to popular belief, Pattaya didn't get its start as "Sin City" until after the Vietnam War. During the years U.S. troops (mostly Air Force) were stationed in Thailand, Pattaya was still the proverbial "sleepy fishing village." Pattaya was never an R & R destination, but Bangkok was. There was a collection of shack bars 10 kilometers from U Tapao and its 10,000 airmen, appropriately named Kilo Sip. It disappeared even before the end of the war.
