Put an end to this festival madness

I'm seriously thinking about starting up some kind of petition worldwide to put an end to this Songkran madness

I watched Tiktok video today of a elderly Thai van driver being attacked by groups of young farangs with a high powered water pistols

This was Phuket about 15-20 farangs attacked him

They even opened all doors on his van as he was fighting them off and sprayed water inside

Does anyone have that video they could post , very very sad

Road deaths , hooligans, etc ,blindness , eye injury

We must stop this festival and if I have to do that I will, as the saying goes ,if it's to be it's up to me !!

I may have to go see my local Member of Parliament about this again to write to the Thai government to do something!!!

Try Trump, this might give them the excuse to take over Thailand and kick out the thais.

My wife's family runs a small non-retail business.

First time SongKran rolled around with me, I asked: How you take off 5 days or so during a holiday. What about your customers.

Simple reply: We can take off 5 days because ALL our customers take off 5 days.

Can you imagine being splashed with this water?

I prefer this festival to seeing an Australian bogan walking around the streets not wearing trousers. Some people spray water where they shouldn't while other people don't wear trousers when they should.

Award for the most stupid statement of the day

Depends. I guess if you're a boring old fart who doesn't enjoy getting a bit wet (or soaked) and getting a bit drunk it's not much fun. Of course Songkran is traditionally about families getting together and getting a bit wet (or soaked) and getting a bit drunk, eating and enjoying. I'm in the latter category.

Here you go

Idiots

Thanks for the video and IMO it is very sad because this is probably the poor guys living and squirting water inside of his vehicle is an absolute no-no. Idiots.

It seems they are putting white powder in the water that dries on your clothes. This seems particularly obnoxious and unnecessary.

Spraying me should be enough for them.

Like a gay lynching mob.

I have a knack for picking the squirters on any given night out on soi 6.

I totally agree with you about stopping this water madness. Sadly in this instance, the van driver forgot to lock his doors and windows.

During my 20 years living in Thailand, driving to, through and from such madness I learnt early on to ALWAYS KEEP my doors and windows locked whilst all the family and friends created mayhem from the back of my pickup truck.

The water festival will never change as it is responsible for so many foreign tourists coming just for that one reason. The Thai government wants that income.

I have not left the house since Monday and have many things to do here. Those asking for an end to it are p*ssing in the wind.

Songkran was celebrated decades before you were born and will be celebrated decades after your gone. Don't like Songkran? Leave.

Here's a tip. Keep your car windows UP. Motorcycles you're going to get wet. Accept it. Make sure things that will get damaged by water are either protected or not taken.

Or even better - stay home. Enjoy some quiet time with family and pets.

Yes, and most likely have. Why do you ask?

My Lazada order - the supplier said he was off work until 15th. but I ordered anyway on Sunday 12th (day before Songkran) and received at my home in small-town Khon Kaen province on 14th. Good going by any measure and even more so during the holiday period. Even saw the local Flash Express delivery riders working on 13th.

What does the mail do at Easter and Christmas where you come from?

By definition there is no urgency with mail order goods.

Relax, you'll survive.

There was urgency with a Xiaomi tv stick, wanted it before Friday
