Where are you getting your shirts from ?

Featured Replies

I kept running into the same issue here in Thailand—finding a decent shirt that actually fits properly.

Lazada is hit and miss, sizing all over the place, and most stuff still runs small (Asian sizes). Shops aren’t much better—same styles everywhere (check shirts) and anything bigger is usually “mai mee.”

Tailors are an option but not always practical unless you’re in Bangkok or Pattaya.

I ended up getting a few made based off a shirt that already fits me well, and it’s honestly solved the problem.

Just curious—what are others doing for decent fitting shirts here that doesnt involve Tailor prices? or a trip to Bangkok etc.

(I dont mean T-shirts or polo shirt type)

When I was teaching, I bought my shirts at a genuine Arrow store. Fit well, durable, looked good. High quality.

Doesnt Thailand charge impoirt duty on everything now ?

Yes lazada and markets all have the same crap

Shopping malls with brandname shops in every city in Thailand, but you will have to spend more than 200 baht on a shirt.

Even Mike shopping mall in Pattaya has some original stuff at good prices

I didn't know price was a consideration. I do tend to buy clothes in North America and bring them back as I visit North America twice a tear to keep my residency.

Presumably you are in AC all day, too hot to wear long sleeve shirts otherwise

Order on Lazada. They usually have a sizing chart with measurements - arguably inaccurate. Order what you think is the correct size, plus the size above and the size below. Return the ones you don't want, or all of them if you don't like them. Returns are nearly always free, and the courier will pick up from your door.

I ordered shirts from lighinthebox, made in China, I had to tax when they were delivered as their is a zero tax allowance on imported goods now,

I guess you mean had to PAY tax as THERE is zero tax allowance...

I haven't bought any new shirts for several years. The last time I did, I bought them online. In the USA, I wear an XL or 2XL. I had to buy 7XL to get one big enough to be comfortable in Thailand sizes.

Spouse and I buy and wear Jaguar brand short-sleeve collared shirts with straight bottom hems from Central and sometimes at the Outlet Mall when they have them. They run around 500 baht and wash up well with no ironing needed with the type of fabric we buy.

Where are they made? Cotton or man-made fibre please.

The label says 'Jaguar of London' but they are likely made somewhere in Asia--didn't see where on any of the shirts, maybe it was on the discarded packaging. We buy the ones labeled 'Compact Yarn', saw a second care label on the shirts that said 'cotton plus' so likely a cotton blend, with no ironing needed. I refuse to buy a shirt that requires ironing.

Truth be told, brought a few with me and have worn rarely in my 15 years here. Sorry, no help. DOD polo, shorts, sandals. If I needed, tailor made here in Chiang Mai.

I had one of those, but they only seem to have the check shirts that are everywhere and I personally hate them now.

OK, let me know if you would like me to get you some, the material is nice and soft, she has many colours to choose from.

If you buy 6 or more she gives you a discount. 😂

I usually buy my shirts in Europe, but once I bought some silk shirts in Thailand, and they’re such good quality that two out of the three are still in great condition after 20 years.

I’ve looked for them many times here in LOS, but I’ve never been able to find them again.

They do seem to offer more in the way of different patterns rather than solids. We have a variety of plaids, windowpanes, checks, etc., and a couple with tropical patterns.

Plenty of decent shirts at Central and at Robinson. Robinson is often cheaper, but good buys can be had on decent quality at both.

My son loves the Jaguar shirts.

The shipping on Amazon is often free, but the duty on cloths is very high. I try to buy underwear and shoes when I visit the US.

I doubt I'll ever need any new shirts, but I am due for some men's trousers.

My GF buys me polo shirts in secondhand stores, 20-50 baht.

She has an eye for quality brands and good condition.

Market Village in Hua Hin is good. MBK in Bangkok is also good. Pratinum has a big men's store as well.
